Title: Video Problems with Wells-gardner monitor
Post by: macrowave on May 30, 2015, 09:50:17 pm
Hello all, I'm new here but was hoping someone could point me in the right direction on a problem I am having with my build.

I just finished assembling my cab and as I expected, I ran into problems using the existing monitor. It is a wells-gardner 25k7401. I am using soft15khz and a breakout cable I bought from ultimarc.

I've played around with different resolutions, some don't work at all, and a couple will display multiple desktops on the screen, and it is hard to get the sync correct, it continues to scroll.

I am using windows 7 ultimate, advanceMAME and advanceMENU. When I try to load a game I get a video device not found error. The system also seems to be using software for video instead of the graphics card. I'm not sure if that is normal or not.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to switch to XP for soft15khz? What resolution should I set the desktop to? Why do I keep getting the SDL error?

Definitely consider using GroovyMAME (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/board,52.0.html) when using MAME in conjunction with a CRT monitor. Windows 7 is fully supported and the forum contains lots of information about sorting out the kind of problems you describe. Plus, the project is quite active and continually improved.
