I was trying to replace a handle on U360 that came with top mounting restrictor and it's bigger than existing one!!! How's that possible? I have never read anything about different versions of U360! Now what?
-
Contact Andy and see if he has the correct diameter tops. If I recall I had the same problem. The longer shaft sticks have a different thread size for the ball/bat tops... I can't remember which.

I only wish that the issue was thread for the top! Look at the bottom of the shaft, the taller one has bigger diameter than the shorter one, how am I supposed to swap it for the taller one, no way anything fits on the bottom part of the taller one pulled off the shorter one!!
What to do, what to do!? (Without spending another buck, those damn top mounted restrictors cost me $48 as is already, and it's plastic restrictor and the shaft, so I bet the new shaft cost the majority of the bundle and it doesn't even fit!)

Have you contacted Andy yet? He's always been really responsive for me.

No, I have not. I purchased the kits through Divemaster and I'm awaiting his response. Unfortunately he is not the fastest.

Still, it's Andy's product. I'd contact him to verify what needs verification/clarification. It's better to get the info straight from the source. That way you have to correct info incase a 3rd party vendor tries to steer you wrong.

I had the same exact problem, he sent me the wrong shafts. I gave up after the third email on getting them returned, I never did buy new shafts, still have the wrong ones floating around somewhere.

Andy did, or Divemaster?

I empathize with your problems guys, I've had issues with him as well. I'm honestly starting to wonder why anyone still recommends divemaster's shop at all. Thank god its not giving Andy's products a bad name.

+1
I'm not going to accuse the guy of anything shady or anything like that, but I can't in good faith recommend him to anybody. The few times in the past year I've had to buy anything from him, I've done it through eBay so I have that extra protection.

but I can't in good faith recommend him to anybody.
Me neither. I will say this though: I don't think he does it maliciously or anything. He's just too busy elsewhere in life to be in this game and makes promises he can't keep.
-
Granted, but i get a sense there's an inherent laziness factor on his behalf. We all know what kind i'm talking about. Just standard procrastination. And if you apply that to your business and it affects customers i have an issue with it, (especially when I'm a customer myself). I get the feeling the guy just doesn't care anymore, and maybe still does it to provide himself with access to cheap parts.
My point is: I work hard for my dollar, and if someone wants it from me they need to work at least equally as hard to get it.
-
I agree - I don't think he is trying to screw anyone over, just that this business is not his priority. I could have kept bugging him about returning the shafts I got and I am sure eventually he would have gotten back to me and refunded them, but it wasn't worth the effort to chase it so hard, at least for me. I just stopped considering him as a source for parts after that. If I recall, I ordered mine as part of a larger order, so I didn't have to pay additional shipping and I was only out like $20 or something, so by the time I shipped them back I would only get some $12-15 back. Not worth having to send a half dozen more emails and push the issue. If it had been $40, maybe it would have been different.

Just spotted this thread.
If this is not resolved can the OP contact me by email as soon as possible and we will get it resolved directly even if the items were purchased from a reseller.

Sorry for any issues, I just heard about this, a pm has been sent & it will be taken care of.

I have emailed him & also sending another email to find out what the issue is. The top mount kits only ship with 1 shaft size, so incorrect parts were not sent. I have a email out to see what the issue is.
thanks

The issue here appears to be caused by the sticks having been purchased 4 years ago and the restrictor kits recently purchased.
We can resolve this. No incorrect parts were sent by Divemaster though.
But there is of course another issue here which is the lack of response by him. I believe that these issues are being caused by excessive email filtering by Divemasters ISP rather than a deliberate avoidance. But these issues must be sorted otherwise we will not be supplying products via him. I am confident the response problems can be resolved.

I just wanted let everyone know that I am in communication with Divemaster via PM and hopefully all my issues will be resolved.
Also when I purchased the top mounted restrictor I was unaware there was a change in manufacturing of U360s and how should I? There was/is no warning of any kind on either website to ask for a specific size when ordering the kit and if it is then it's buried in such way that I simply did not notice. I hope I am not causing any kind of problems to anyone's business because it was not my intention at all! All I posed was a question: "What to do!?"
-
Thats correct you would have had no way of knowing there was a change a few years ago. Thats where customer service comes into play. We can send the parts to adapt the older stick to fit the current handles.
I am liasing with Divemaster on the best way to do this.
