Title: Tone arm hits side of record sometimes
Post by: turbine starter on May 11, 2015, 07:31:19 pm
I have just bought a 1988  Rowe Ami RB8 Bubbler  from the US- from the owner who bought it new and had in her home until this year. ( Original docs still inside unopened  along with mint manual . )  It was professionally packed and Shipped in from Illinois to the UK with her complete collection of 1300 x  45s .  I run it from a professional lab frequency converter at 60Hz and 110 volts .
Occasionally , the  stylus body catches on the edge of the record and jams . It does not appear to do this on the "A side"  of the records, but on the "B" side and I believe this tends to  happens when it enters auto play on the B side which is  every 20 minutes. All else  is perfect but as I said, for no apparent reason the tone arm sometimes seems to fail to lift  as it travels across to the record in time and allow the stylus body to clear the edge of the record before lowering onto the record lead in .. The Tone arm was not properly secured for shipping and the carousel was not emptied of records for shipping.!! Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

Hello Turbine Starter,

Sorry you have not left your name.

There is an issue with the tone arm that has been slightly bent that is causing the problems or the tone arm cam is damaged.

Being as you are in the UK I suggest you contact me directly.

Regards
Alan
