Title: First ever MAME build with Wells Gardner 25K7197 Monitor Issues
Post by: brentman0110 on May 09, 2015, 09:56:08 pm
Hello all! I am extremely new to this hobby, but, I have started a project to build a MAME cabinet out of an existing arcade cabinet. I know this is not new to you experienced folks, so, I preface this thread with an apology if     my issue has already been answered. I did a search, but did not see my specific issue addressed. I bought a 99 NFL Blitz cabinet that has a Wells Gardner 25K7197 Monitor. I plan to hook this monitor to a PC for MAME, later, if I can determine that the monitor is healthy. So, at this time, it is still functioning, sometimes, as a arcade machine. The problem is that is goes in and out. I am attaching links to a video and close up pictures of the issues that I am experiencing. Sometimes, it works perfectly for hours, then BAM! It will reboot and experience the issues shown in the video. I am trying to determine if the issue is the monitor itself, the ISO transformer, the power supply (which will not be needed for my MAME setup) or the boards, or something else. I wait for the experience of the folks here to help me out. Any other information needed, I can provide as needed.

Thanks,

My best guess is that the Blitz board or hard drive is going bad. Do you have another JAMMA game you can test in the cab?

Im not sure that your problem is in the monitor, it seems like the problem could be the blitz board itself. The monitor shouldn't have anything to do with the initialization of the game, that is all done on the game board.  Its possible that there is a problem with the power supply and that's causing issues with both of them, but I'd put that down as less likely for the moment.

Best thing to do is find a way to hook a different (known good) signal up to that monitor and see what happens.

Thanks All! I did put my meter on the power supply and all voltages were spot on. So, this makes me feel way better that the monitor, is the least likely issue. I dont have another board, so, I guess I will just continue on with my MAME build in hopes the monitor is good. Checking Ultimarc now for the ArcadeVGA PCIe board.

Sadly, not near you. Nashville, TN here. I appreciate it though! I am just happy to think that my monitor is maybe good!
