Title: Generic FF steering wheel
Post by: horizon on May 07, 2015, 02:58:18 pm
So this was brought to my attention.  Granted, this is a terrible, yet funny, iteration of building your own from scratch.

Is it really this basic, though, to wire up a game pad and potentiometer to a steering wheel?

Actually.... yeah.... yes it is.  Steering wheels are largely mechanical beats, the electronics consist of a simple pot or optical encoder.  The key is the physical part of the wheel... making it sturdy and such.

Hey Howard I thought you were MIA. Just on a hiatus? BTW I saw you live in Charleston WV. I work about 30 minutes from there in Barboursville.

Yeah I'm just having some medical issues so when I can spend time of this stuff is a little spotty.

Yeah there's a wv arcade group.... nice fellows but I'm always so busy I just kind of fell away from it.

Pretty sure the general consensus is that I'm a big jerk that is tolerated due to his hacking and coding skills, but I'll take it.  ;)

I'm doing much better, thanks.
