Finished up school last fall :applaud: and decided to build a mini cabinet with a raspberry pi at the core. Turned out pretty good I think, even though it is a little bit messy inside.
I didn't take a lot of build pictures, sorry about that.
SPECS:
1/8 MDF Laser Cut to a donkey kong type cabinet
Raspberry PI B+
Mini Joystick (http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/04A-B01/GH7455-ND/2138044 (http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/04A-B01/GH7455-ND/2138044))
Mini Arcade Buttons (http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/0/EG1938-ND (http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/0/EG1938-ND))
Speakers I had laying around, which smaller ones would have been much easier to fit
4.3 in LCD (http://goo.gl/oWfO3A (http://goo.gl/oWfO3A))
Voltage Converter (http://goo.gl/4LMNkE (http://goo.gl/4LMNkE))
Raspberry Pi Shutdown Switch (http://goo.gl/aMSV2x (http://goo.gl/aMSV2x))
I used retroPi for the front end and have MAME, Atari, NES, Sega Master System and Sega Genisis on there. (Good emulators to use 3 buttons with)
Might have missed something, but that is most of it.
Now for the pics! (I'll try to get a video of it in action soon)

Not too shabby. I'd like to know about the art though. Did you paint the MDF and then laser etch the art? I'm curious due to the monochrome nature.
I assume you are using the GPIO for controls?
What are the buttons on the top for, I assume power?
Is it just Wreck it Ralph or do you have other games?

I'm a little new at using a laser. I did paint the MDF first then vector cut the shape and etched the images. It looks good, but if I did it again I would paint the mdf, cover it with tape, etch it and then paint the etches with black and then remove the tape to give a better contrast and nice two color look.
I did use the GPIO for the buttons. Worked great.
Buttons on top are power and exit to exit back to the game menu.
It actually doesn't play Fix it Felix at all.... :embarassed: I don't think there is a good linux version of it, but I could be wrong.
I edited my first post to show what emulators are on it.

Added a video in the original post of it actually working.

I've had a question about those Grayhill mini-joysticks for a long time. The Digi-Key page lists it as 4 way. Is there a restrictor or something in there or is it actually an 8-way?

It is an 8-way stick.
There's no way to add a restrictor plate on the bottom. ;D

Nice setup. I am in the process of building a mini also using a Pi. Waiting on parts to arrive so I can really get going with it.

Great job on this!
Ive been wanting to build another Micro Arcade. Thanks for sparking the fire.
This should be added to the Micro Arcade projects (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=Micro_Arcade_Projects) on the wiki.

Sounds like a plan if Stallion85 grants permission to upload one of the pics to the wiki. ;D
If it is OK, which pic would you like to use for the wiki, Stallion85?

Definitely. That would be awesome.
Probably this one I guess (Maybe I will get a better picture with something to reference the size later)-

Here's a first draft http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=Wreck_It_Ralph_Micro (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=Wreck_It_Ralph_Micro).
Let me know if there's anything else you want to add to the writeup.
Added it to the micro builds (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=Micro_Arcade_Projects#Micro_Arcade_Projects) and builds by year (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=Builds_by_year#2015) lists. ;D
When you post the better picture I'll upload that one, unless it will take you a long time to do it.
