Title: Do I need the Joystick extender and 4 other questions about my order with Ultima
Post by: j1345 on April 28, 2015, 04:57:52 pm
I'm about to place my order for my first build... but don't know if they will fit my cab build:

I'm ordering:

J-Stik Ball-Top
4-8 Way Switchable Joystick (Sanwa JLW-TM-8)

My control panel is 1/4" piece of plywood plus a plexiglass over lay.  I'm going to mount it under the panel without a routed out section.

1)  Do i need to get the extension:
Ball-Top handle for Mag-Stik Plus. Long Length. (says works with Jstick )

2) Does this come with the black round disc dust protector?

Also the buttons I'm getting:

GoldLeaf Pushbuttons from Ultimarc  says max length is 1.20"
3) will i have prob installing with my control panel?

4) Do i need the mounting feet to mount the miniPac?  PCB Mounting Feet

5) Do I need a button wrench?  Looks like Ultimac does not sell them?

Thanks in advance!

No, you do not necessarily need an extension for a JLW in a 1/4" - 3/8" panel. I have a JLW in a routed 5/8" panel (1/4" nominal thickness at mounting plate) and the stock lever/knob is just marginally shorter than my Ultimarc "long" MagStik balltop mounted in T-Stick Plus joysticks. I tried the JLW with an extension and it made the lever just a bit too tall imho.

I'm not 100% sure that MagStik levers are compatible with a JLW stick, but if Andy says so then it must be the case. Yes, the JLW stick (and the MagStik levers individually) come with dust washers.

You should be fine with the pushbutton length.

I think the MiniPac is likely packaged with its own PCB feet, but if you're using a wood panel it shouldn't matter much if you mounted it direct to wood.

Button wrenches are handy, but not 100% necessary. You can hand tighten the ring nuts and snug them with a pair of channellocks if you have to.

Yeah I'd say you are probably fine without the extensions.
