Title: trackball doesn't work in mame??

My Trackball works fine (wired through opti-pac),  it works fine as a mouse but in games it won't work, only the joystick will, what am I doing wrong?

You need to enable it in the config file.  To create the config file, run mame -cc.  Then set mouse from 0 to 1.

Thanks so much!!

BTW, I am also having problems with the forth player, on 4 player enabled games like gauntlet the forth player joystick and buttons don't work, but I tested them and they are sending the correct key strokes, (using I-Pac4). Am I missing another setting?

did you set it up in MAME for the forth player keys/buttons ?

Ok, now I feel like an idiot, what do I have to do to enable the fourth player in mame?

Some games you have to go into the config menu to enable 4 players.  To go into that menu either press F2.  Another way to get there is press Tab then goto dip switches.
