Title: Windows 7 low res mode----Alternative to soft 15 or emu crt?
Post by: lisowskikevin on April 18, 2015, 08:50:39 am
Hey guys has anyone run Windows low resolution mode with success for mame and other emulators on their TV? Is the resolution still too high?

I have a Sony kv-27fs120 wega that I'm trying to get working with my pc and ati 4350 video card. I also have a tc1600 transcoder as well.

Also, I've heard that emu crt and soft 15 only kick in after windows boot so what have ppl been doing to prevent damage to their monitors during boot?

Any advice appreciated

Howdy, did you ever get an answer to this?  Thanks!

Answers would include Viltim's protection circuit as part of his VGA-Arcade amplifier schematics, or using a J-PAC, or easiest of all just flashing the video card's BIOS with an Atom15 mod. It's by Calamity as well. I've got it running first time on all 4 cards I've tried (4350, 4890, 6870, 6950) and it's been updated since. AMD/ATI cards only, however.

That takes care of pre-windows resolution, then you'd use crt_emudriver for windows.
