Hi All,
Just thought we would share with you a Christmas gift we made for our parent's. They are not big on computers and for whatever reason, would not play Reel Deal Slots on their PC. The one computer they own is primarily used for E-mail and Browsing the Internet. So we decided to build them a slot machine that was based around Reel Deal Slots.
Below are a few pictures along with a link to our website that we threw together to write this post. It will be updated with many more pictures soon.
Just in case your wondering... My parents both LOVED it and it was a big hit at our annual Christmas party. Almost everyone who sat down and played it said it was just like playing a real slot machine. We where going to add a sidearm, but ran out of time. For right now, when you pull down on the joystick, it spins.
The five red buttons directly below the monitor is for the video poker machines. There is nothing like hitting a red button to hold a card. Feels much more authentic.

Cool project. My wife and I are going to the casino tomorrow afternoon.
You could hit up happ controls for some more authentic controls, the have the square casino type buttons there too.
About that side arm. Where did you plan on getting that? Or were you going to build it yourself?
Is the mouse the only interface for the "Reel Deal Slots" game? Can you map buttons to the buttons you are using the mouse/trackball to hit. Can you give a little software review?
I like how your gift/project turned out. Cool!

This is going to be a little long winded so please bear with us.
We where going to do authentic buttons but we also threw in a jukebox for them as well.
We where going to build a slot arm. We ran out of time trying to come up with something. so for now if the pull down on the joystick. it works like the arm.
All of the buttons work. The only need for the track ball is to navigate around to pick another slot machine. Here is what they do.
The top 5 red buttons are the hold buttons in video poker. (My father just loves that)
They are also numeric buttons 1-5 (so that when it ask you how much you want to bet you can enter money)
The yellow button exits the currents slot machine (There are probably over 100 slots in there machine)
The orange is 0 (zero) so if they want to play with 500 dollars they can enter 500 using the buttons. (No need for a keyboard)
The green is the payout button. (They can look at the top of every machine to see what it pays out. (Just like the real machine)
The red is bet 1 credit
The blue is bet max credits
The purple is to look at the bottom of the machine.
Here is a picture that we included the manual. (yes we made them a manual :)

As far a software review. I'll see what we can do :)

Wow, I had considered the SAME thing for my mother, but tossed out the idea because I didn't think I could get Reel Deal working properly in a cabinet, well I guess you did it!!!

Wow! That thing looks great! I would like to do a similar project for my parents. Would you mind posting some construction / hardware / software details?

Darn, I just finished a cab and now I feel inclined to make a slot machine one!
I never heard of Reel Deal Slots or even knew there was software out there which have tons of slot machines included for playing.
This is a great idea for people I know. Please tell me where to get the Reel Deel Slots software.....is it freeware. I got to start searching around for this.
I now have to start thinking of a really cool reason why i "need" this so I can convience my wife ...... once again to allow more "stuff" into the house :>)
I was going to make a video jukebox eventually (no hurry.....since I am in rest mode now after completing my recent cab), but this sounds too cool to wait too long before starting.
Please tell me everything!
BTW: IT LOOKS GREAT!
