Title: Intervideo CRT Issue - Newbie Looking for Help
Post by: Skohon25 on April 12, 2015, 02:05:29 pm
Good Morning,

I recently purchased my first arcade cabinet ('89 TMNT). I was playing last night when suddenly the screen began to flicker. It flickered for about 20 seconds then the screen went completely dark.  I still hear the sound from the game and the marquee light is still working. I also hear popping/hissing from the back of the CRT (video file was too large). It also puts off a funny odor. I am completely new to arcade machines and monitors, so your help is greatly appreciated. Also, it looks like the monitor power is coming from a 110 to 220 converter. Not sure why?

Please let me know what other information I can post to help.

Thank you!
-Steve

Are there any other pictures I can post that would help?  I'll try zipping a video tonight.

if the sparks are coming from the flyback then just replace it-don't leave it on too long or the horizontal deflection transistor will short out

somewhere on that chassis will be a model number, that will help us id the flyback number and what voltage the chassis can run on.
Intervideo were a european company but many of their chassis could run on 100-255vac without the need of an isolation transformer

at the moment this sounds to be an easy fix-but not if you leave it switched on
