Anyone have this monitor? http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49615700.htm
Any other recommendations on a 27" Monitor that does at least 800x600 resolution?

I am quite pleased with the Hantarex Polostar. Available with both 25 and 27inch tubes.

where in the USA can we purchase this monitors? I am looking at the Polo/2 15-25 hz 20" monitor.

I have that monitor... believe Saint does as well.
I'm very happy with it. Has seen quite a bit of use over the last four months. Most the parts including the tube seem to be Samsung. Thing is the higher frequency there if your a purist. But I wanted something to jam MAME and PC games. For that application... Probably can't do better than this monitor.
Also it's plug and play man if you have a US outlet or at least a 3 prong adaptor.
I've heard of one guy say he only gets 256 colors with it at 800x600 but I'm pretty sure it's his vidcard that's the prob. I use an ATI 9700 Pro and constantly have it set at 16bit color.

Which monitor is THAT monitor? The one from HAPP?

One thing to consider with that particular Happ monitor is that it is a 30-40kHz monitor, unlike the W-G D9200 which is 15.75-31.5kHz. This would only be an issue if you wanted to use an ArcadeVGA for perfect resolutions, which you wouldn't be able to do with the Happ one.

Yes I was speaking of the HAPP Vision pro there...
Like i said though frequencies! Just as Oscar pointed out more clearly and in depth.
I'm not a montior pro. But I'll tell ya, I steered clear of the D9200 model because of all the PCB's burning out on people.
It does not officially support 800x600 and if you'll do a search on these forums, I seem to recall someone who seemed real knowledgeable with electronics pointed out just why running 800x600 on those D9200s will burn out the pcb. Most the people with pcb probs were in fact running the monitor at 800x600... Seems to be a fine monitor though save for that issue.
-
Okay.. so is there another 27" monitor that will do 800x600 that is recommended?
And if not... what specifically will the problem be with running the HAPP with some of the games or ArcadeVGA?
Right now, I'm running a Radeon 9200 BTW...

What is the price on the Polostar and where to buy it?

Betson Imperial sells Kortek monitors. I got one delivered for $160 new in the box.
They are out of NJ. Search for them on the web. They have all kinds of the korean monitors. I've had it installed in my galaga for a year with no problems!

I have one of the HAPP 27" Monitors and it appears to actually be a Kortek monitor since it came in a Kortek box. It has a Samsung tube on it. So far I have not had any issues with it. It also fit my budget at the time of my project since it was significantly less then the D9200 and fully supports the 800x600.

Mind if I ask how much you paid and where you got it?

I paid about $425 + $85 shipping from HAPP directly.

Wow... how long ago, and what was the part number specifically that you got?
How is the PC at 800x600?

I got it back at the end of August 2003 online from HAPP.
Look in their monitor section (49-6157-VP2) . The price has gone up (now $499.25) and I also got a 2% discount they were offering for online purchases. Shipping was quoted at $85. They tried to charge me $125 but then gave me a credit after I showed them the quote they gave me.

FWIW, the D9200 is usually < $500 shipped. I think I paid $440+$50 shipping. Not sure if it used to be higher priced or what but I noticed the comment about the Kortek being significantly cheaper.

From HAPP the D9200 is $652.55 + shipping. Maybe they are cheaper direct from WG or from someone else, not sure. I have heard of others getting refurbs as an option.

People should shop around, that's a ridiculous price. I bought mine from American Gaming (essentially WG direct, I believe), brand new. Why give Happs an extra $200? Refurbs are sometimes available for about $350, but that's not what I'm referring to in this context.
