I invested a large sum of money a couple of years ago when I purchased a pair of Super Street Fighter 4 32" wide screen cabinets.
These were supplied by an amusement machine supplier and had the latest version of the game which is a stand alone 2 player (version 1.0) Our sole use for these machines Is to site operate them.
Both of these machines have now failed as the Taito X2 motherboards have failed. So I have cabinets, JVS converters and hard drives, but no motherboard.
I am hesitant to spend another arm and a leg on a used X2 motherboard as these things are getting old now and I will be putting these back into a commercial environment.
Is there a modern day motherboard that these can be modified to run on?
Seems there is a bit more involved than just throwing the drive into another system as it is looking for specific drivers (sound Max) is the first one it comes to and just crashes and restarts the computer.
Interesting that the hard drives I got don't have a USB dongle???
Anyone had any luck with getting the original drives to work on something other than an X2?
Cheers

I have no idea. :dunno depends on how they've done things.
also, if you post what the ORIGINAL board is/was perhaps you can find another to replace it with. I think you are going to find you are going to have to stay in the same era of board (IE you arent going to replace it with a brand new modern board.) because the software is likely designed for the board and it's specific chipset/audio/nework etc.
depending on how theyve set things up on the harddrive, you MAY (but unlikely) be able to swap out the board and just patch things up in the OS to get it to run. but without knowing more, it's hard to tell.

specific mobo on these, built for taito
btw if you have no dongles then you have non original software-i.e it's moody
i have repaired loads of type x+ mobo, have you checked the basics like ram and cpu?
type x2 units are not expensive anyway
