Retrogames has a new ad that is a Shockwave app that hijacks your browser. It redefines the homepage and disrupts your usual business as you surf.
Most pop-up blockers are useless (as I understand). My Google "I block popups" taskbar was worthless.
One more reason not to visit Retrogames (as if you need another).
I use an app called CW Shredder. It kills the hijacker dead. I lived with a hijacked homepage for a few days (lazy is my middle name) and CW Shredder did the trick.

I had that happen to me, too. I lived with that crap for over a week then got pissed at the hijack b.s. and did some searching on the internet. Found that webpage with the CWS shreader and I downloaded that. Worked like a charm! I'm happy again.

The "problem" seems to be fixed-- the ads are gone.
An aside, I am tired of this kind of stuff... Spyware, adware, and the like. My PC is my personal property, and any unauthorized use of the CPU or manipulation of the settings is nothing short of theft and vandalism.
Authors of this type of software should be arrested like virus writers. I see little difference between them.

Haven't had a problem at Retrogames that I'm aware of, though I use PopUpCop and it's rather effective at preventing that kind of underhanded crap.
Another useful app is Spybot- Search and Destroy.

i think retrogames is the best ROM site out there for mame IMO. every chd, rar, etc and decent DL speeds.
as far as spyware and stuff i hate that crap and i think it should be illegal. but i dont think they were aware that was on their page a lot of times ads just change and thats how they pay for their site they dont notice, but they took it down so im sure someone took notice
