Dammit

I watched the trailer.  I'm usually so good about not watching the trailer.

The cinematography looks fantastic, and it's directed by George Miller so I will definitely see this. Usually I tend not to watch remakes of favourite 80's movies for fear of losing the magic and memories, but this will be an exception.

I give the trailer 5/5 (",)

This is getting very promising positive reviews.  I watched all 3 original films in the last few days.  1 & 3 IMO  veer between crappy to so so but Mad Max 2 is still a great watch, genre defining and thrilling.  I think the new film looks like picking up on the essential elements of MM2 i.e. the big road chase in a post apocalyptic world.  I just hope its not too over the top frantic with a million jump cuts.

Mel Gibson went on to make a lot of shite movies like Lethal Weapon etc which spawned the deserved mock copies with the likes of Emiilo Estevez, Loaded Weapon I think it was. Then he ultimately pissed off Hollywood with his drunken anti semetic rants.  He was the man as Max though, long before being sold as the "Road Warrior".

Go and see it danny.

I normally find these kind of films hard to get in to, but really enjoyed this one. So much action and so intense.

Definitely go see it  :)

Mr Toecutter was back in supreme form.  Shame the Max character wasn't.  Like you go though through the whole film, risking your life for some nice young lovelies, kill the baddies, the whole world as your oyster, then walk off?  Bollocks.

saw it last night, loved it.  They did a good job creating a culture of people who really believed in what they were doing, as twisted as it was.  The cars were crazy and cool, and despite the passive behavior of Max the whole time, I liked the subtlety of his character.  The only thing I didn't like was how they messed up the interceptor.  If they had not destroyed it, you could say this took place sometime between the first and second movies.  As for him walking away, I hate that he did but it is true to the Mad Max character so I couldn't complain.  He is a road warrior and can't settle down anywhere.

I went to see this last night and really enjoyed it.  It's neither a sequel nor a remake so any lack of apparent continuity in anything is no big deal.  I was excited to see it because it picks up on all the elements that made Mad Max 2 a success and pushes these to '11' on the sensory dial.  A very basic plot coupled with a post apocalyptic vision full of ingenuity, horror, humor and mythology.  It's worth seeing just for the amazing vehicles and incredible chase scenes alone. The story here may begin with Tom Hardy's Max but it is Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa that not only steals the show but is the driving force (pun intended) throughout.  What a great female character.  The flip on just who is central to the story is what makes this great, it's not just a rehash with predictable familiarity, it's a powerhouse performance which lingers on long after the final fade on her face.
See it on a big ass screen with bigger ass sound  ;D.

Saw it today with the wife and kid.  Loved it.  I thought he nailed Max's character; loved Furiosa...  then again, I've always liked Theron.

Saw it over the weekend.  I can't say that I loved it.  Actually thought it wasn't too good and I'm somewhat surprised by others' comments here.

Without giving anything away, even the shallow plot really just didn't make too much sense.  I've got so many questions, but don't want to spoil anything.  I generally love off the wall, different movies, but this just missed for me.  Is it something that had to have been read first?

Some of the characters abilities made no sense and others were just downright laughable.  (My wife had to shush me every time the guitars got louder.)

Walking out, I actually thought it was horrible, but maybe I'll give it a try at home with a few beers when it is released on DVD...

Saw it, really liked it, wish they would have delved a little bit more into Max's character.  Even my wife liked it, and she didn't really care for the originals.

So are you one of those annoying people that adds their own commentary track in the theater?

No, I was laughing.  Not as much as when I saw Borat, but a pretty good laugh.

For the record, I turn my ringer off, I don't talk during a movie and I don't even pull out my phone to blind others with the light.  I also don't kick the seat in front of me or throw trash on the floor.

I can tell from the postings that I'm in the minority on this movie, so I'm trying to figure out why it didn't appeal to me.  For me, the cons certainly outweigh the pros.

I can't imagine not watching this 10 more times.

Best post-apocalyptic movie in a long time, on the same level as Children of Men and Dredd.

But those two films both sucked.  I liked Judge Dredd more than I did Dredd.... at least it felt like a comic book and not some lame die hard ripoff.

Children of Men was good.  Never saw Dredd.  Far as I am concerned, it is just refreshing to see a PA movie or TV show without zombies...

I actually enjoyed Children of Men quite a bit.  Can't make it through either Dredd movie.  Terrible pinball machine and comic book, too.

But PBJ I know when you played that Dredd pinball you must not have put in the extra two quarters to start out with multiball superpin game........

Well of course my opinions are right and yours are all wrong...... Just kidding, those are my favorites and I don't know anyone else that agrees with me but I loved Children of Men and Dredd, like a ridiculous amount, and this movie is added to that small list of current action movies that I loved.

Saw it today. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I wish they would do a prequel now, since it showed flashbacks of him loosing his wife and kid in the first movie. (Redone flashbacks, not the original actors.)
I may have to watch it again before buying it on DVD when it comes out.

Meh. It's watchable enough, but nothing that blew me away. The action probably needed to be toned down a touch and the story added to just a little for it to be great. For car chases and explosions and fighting it's got it though.

The visuals are good  - there are plenty of disgusting creatures and people that make you squirm! The 3D is done really well too, right up until the cliche "slo-mo object coming towards you and hovering for a bit" anyway.

Fast and the Furious 6.  Because it was someone else's birthday or some similar BS and I got roped into it.  Just like Mad Max.  I enjoyed F&F6 more but I didn't seek out any of the other movies or anything.

Anyway, it's okay to like different things.

Sorry but this comment is utter nonsense.  If you have to see a film in the theatre to enjoy it then all it has going for it are visuals and therefore it's a throw-away garbage film.  Us adults enjoy a little plot with our action thank you very much.

Thanks Jim, F&F6 added to my list.  To be honest I was pretty sceptical about Mad Max going in and found myself enjoying it more than expected.  You just never know, its all very subjective and personal.

@Howard that's a bit harsh man, but you know what, point taken..How about , what was the last action movie you saw anywhere that you really enjoyed or loved?  Sound Fair?

Are you kidding?
(I agree about the story, they could have gotten a bit deeper. I wish they had done a remake of the first movie, then this one.)
