I've been re-doing alot of the code that rd uses to set the screen resolution and I beleive that it's now possible to implement some odd-ball screen settings similar to how arcade os could do. I've tested it and I can force the refresh rate and bit depth to anything I want, even if win won't let you select it via the control panel.....
Once beta5 is released I would apprecitate it if anyone who has an arcade monitor and a jpac would help me test this out, sicne I have no way of doing this.

(systems loggin me out all the time... :(
btw, this is again way cool! Are you going to document how you are doing it so when I move my code to c++ I might be able to borrow some of it?

Of course! This is still very preliminary and I actually figured out how to do it quite by accident so it'll be a while though. I have every intention of making sure that EVERY windows front-end has this code in it if I get it working though. Besides fewer resource requirements, the arcade monitor support of aos is the only thing keeping people tethered to dos. Hopefully if this works we can change all of that and then no-one will have any excuse. ;D
Good things are coming our way gentlemen let's all just sit back and enjoy the ride. 8)

If have done a LOT of research when it comes to monitor timings. You can make any horizontal resolution you want with any horizontal frequency. If you lock the horizontal frequency at 15.72khz, you get a maximum of 240 vertical scanlines (you can always eat a bit from the front/back porch periods). I have written a "paper" on it, that is not quite finished but could save you a fair amount of work. E-mail me if you want it.

Thank you SO MUCH noodles..... This has saved me weeks of research and I can tell you now that this makes this new feature much more likely to be completely implemented now. I'll keep you informed.

Oh yeah I know, my puny free webspace account can't handle all the traffic so it goes in and out.
