Game play :
A fast and frantic, Fixed-Screen Platformer, Saboten Bombers features 100 stages comprised of floating platforms akin to those seen in games such as Tumble Pop and Snow Bros. The background imagery in each level suggests that the game takes place in and around a domestic home, featuring stages in a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom, a livingroom, a library and several other locations.
In Saboten Bombers you play as one of two cactuses-with-arms, the Saboten Bombers, fighting against a legion of sentient vegetables, giant insects, and various nonsensical creatures. As one of the Saboten you're are capable of running, jumping and throwing bombs. The bombs you throw are incredibly bouncy, ricocheting off of every surface for several seconds before detonating. As such, throwing out too many bombs at once can prove quite dangerous, as you can hurt yourself with your own attacks. It's also possible to set your bombs down on the ground so that enemies walk into them.
When a bomb hits an enemy, they will become stuck to the bomb, travelling with it until it explodes. Multiple enemies can become stuck to a single bomb. There are also enemies that require more than one bomb explosion to kill. Some enemies can also throw bombs, not all of which bounce.
Simply running into an enemy does not hurt you at all. You can even push the enemies around or jump on their heads, temporarily stunning them. On the flipside, enemies can temporarily stun you as well.
I want that cake.
In each level you can collect various food items for additional points. These food items include carrots, apples, bell peppers, grapes, bananas, watermelons, cakes, and radishes among other things.
There are also power-ups that increase the power of your bomb attacks and power-downs with various negative effects. These items only appear when you manage to kill multiple enemies with a single bomb.
Last day: Sunday, April 05 2015 midnight Pacific

Absolutely crazy game, I have to try multiplayer some time. How did you stumble across this? I'm also liking it lot more than the sub game, which felt completely luck-based to me.
347,500 after a few games

The scoring on this one is pretty luck-based too. You can reach stage 8 with 160,000 points or you can have 360,000 at the same stage, depending on which bonus items you got.
385,700

Yep the more of the enemies you can get inside a single bomb the more bonus points you can get and as mentioned they can make a big difference in the score so then it becomes a trade off of going for several enemies on each shot and getting the level done the quickest which gets you increasing end of level bonuses. But in the end staying alive is the most important and the scoring will take care of itself.
How did you stumble across this?
I was playing a few games of stun runner awhile back and saw this one in the gamelist so decided to try it for something different and remembered it when trying to decide on a game for this competition - I've also always liked Snow Bros. and Bubble Bobble and this one is sort of similar.

Completing the cake nets you an extra life.
-
Collecting all the bonus items nets you 100,000 points.

Anybody notice on the splash screen, the green cactus walks from left to right, pulls a cigarette (or a joint) from his pocket, lights it and takes a hit?
Oh yeah, I suck at this game, 169k.

I must have missed some rediculeus bonus when it happened but...

Finally kept from killing myself for a bit longer -- 464,000

Still plenty of time !! - watch the intro screen it shows a way to get about 80K or more on the first level !! (10K points for each enemy if you get all 6 in one shot !) If you get the right drops afterwards it can really help -- Also if you let the clock run out before clearing the last guy you get 50K timer bonus (just have to avoid all the explosions that come when the timer runs out till you clear the level !)
-
I must have missed some rediculeus bonus when it happened but...
That happened to me too ! I was playing along, minding my own business, and bam! suddenly I had more than 700,000 points. I guess the 'random points' bonus sometimes is very generous ...

Seems around the boss level and just afterwards the bonuses and 1-ups show up and get you a bunch of points quickly -- finally made it to level 17 and a good score of 985,900 was trying to get to a million but lost several lives in short order and just missed it !
-
1,068,000
That scoring system is so random ... Reached stage 19, 660,000 points. Reached stage 18, 1,068,000 points.

Yeah I was getting close to the million mark and 2 or 3 levels later was still getting close just could not get a decent bonus near the end levels.
had a feeling my first place score wouldn't hold up but thought it would at least last longer than a half hour  !!
-
I actually did this score on Saturday, I just didn't want to post it because I didn't want to discourage the others, since the other scores were at around 400,000 at the time.
-
One bump for the final day -- Still plenty of time to submit those scores !!
