Title: arcade monitor questions and help
Post by: gamer83 on March 04, 2015, 06:27:26 pm
Hey guys,i got some questions for the monitor gurus out there.Im looking to buy an arcade monitor from a local shop, the price is next to nothing. But the monitor has a small( i hope) problem. The monitor is a WG k7602.the owner said the monitor worked fine until he moved the cabinet it was in to swap games, now the monitor doesnt show the color red,at all.How badly is this monitor damaged? What could have happened when he moved it? Easy fix...or dont bother?
with arcade monitors I understand you need an isolation transformer wired to them for it to work. Now my question about the transformer is,are they generic for evey monitor? Or does each monitor need its own specific isolation transformer?

Hi

Losing a color when moved around, my guess would be something has fallen apart or a loose cable. Probably an easy fix.
In general on/off errors are easy to troubleshoot (compared to intermittent errors), and in this case it is one out of three, and that gives you two others to compare with.

An isolation transformer is generic. Depending of where in the world you are there might be different voltages though. You also need to have one that can handle the power usage for your particular monitor.

Hello,
I second what was already posted.

Worst case scenario is the transistor on the neck board for the red is blown and this is an easy replacement.
But being that it stopped working after moving it would lead me to think it was something even easier like a loose connection where the RGB connects to the monitor.

If the price is right, I'd go for it.
If you need help in the repair, you can always post more here on the forum.

Good luck
