Finally got my CP wired but ran into a problem. When I try to do 2 player games, both players have to play with the same controls. I even tried mapping player 1 controls to player 2 (and vice versa) but then we both had to use p2 controls. This makes me think that it isn't a wiring issue since it recognizes each side. I'm stumped...any ideas? Sorry if it's a just me being stupid.

In which games are you seeing this problem?
What encoder are you using? (IPac, KeyWiz, KADE, etc.)
If you are using a keyboard-style encoder, try opening Notepad and see if P1 controls are sending the same keystrokes as the P2 controls.

Most classic games were programmed to use one set of controls. Players just alternate.

Right now I'm just testing on Donkey Kong, Galaga and pacMan (155 roms).
IPAC
I don't understand the 3rd one, sorry.
Thanks for your help.
Just Saw the next post about the classic games. Can someone recommend one that is for sure two players using separate controls?

Those are games that alternate players on the same controls. You could remap so that either control set works for player 1 which would mean you could use both but then you could also mess with your buddies when it was their turn.

I am an idiot. I never thought about classic games only being contolled by one set of controls. Opened a fighting game and both worked! Sorry for my ignorance. I searched for hours. Should have come here first!
