Title: T-Molding Creating Air Bubbles in Artwork

Hi Guys,

I've had my artwork installed for a while now -- a few months -- and I just added t-molding this week.

I haven't had any issues with air bubbles until this point, but I'm noticing the t-molding is putting pressure on the artwork and creating small "bubbles" near the touch points... like it's pushing "down" on the artwork and pushing it slightly off the sides..

Is this normal? Should I give it time for the air to dissipate? Any help would be appreciated

sounds like the artwork is hanging over the edge ever so slightly. when you  bang the t moulding on, it pushes back the artwork causing it to lift slightly. you are going to have to trim back the artwork a tiny tiny amount to keep it from touching the t moulding.

hen i did my side panel art, I took a sharp xacto knife and trimmed the edges of my art flush with the wood so the the moulding wouldn't have anything to push back on. Then (because my art was dark, and the cab wood was painted black) i took a couple fresh sharpie markers and marked of the very edge of it just in case any could be seen, (in retrospect, i was just being picky).

I almost learned this the hard way after first putting my CP art. As you can see in the picture below its bubbling up similar to how your describing. Best thing to do here is to CAREFULY take a very sharp and pointy xacto blade and trim the vinyl along the problems edges where you see it coming up, under the t-moulding. This way you won't have to remove the moulding to fix it. Just take your time and GO SLOW.

being IN the business, i take the quick and dirty route of applying the artwork, rough trimming the plexi and getting everything mounted to the panel, then... run a router with a flush cutting bit around the edge to cut everything even. Ends up perfect.  :cheers:

Unless of course there is a whooptie in the edge of the wood panel in which case I end up going over that part again with a file.

Let's not talk about that one time the bearing fell off the bit. that took some work to hide.  :-\
