Title: Help with MaLa starting with windows.
Post by: mothy2401 on February 23, 2015, 06:57:15 pm
Hi all,

I've got MaLa set up on my first cab. I want it to start up with windows, this I've managed to do, but I get a load of "file type not recognised" errors. Mala still starts up but I have to clear all the messages before I can use the game list.

I can get MaLa to go straight into a game on launch but when I go back to change games the messages are there.

I hope someone understands my problem.

With thanks in antisipation.

Tim

have you turned on debugging to see if what file types mala is trying to load on startup?

Perhaps, your game list is corrupted.
Are you using the last version of MALA? My advice is that you should create your list of games again.

Greetings.

It seems that after the initial startup of windows XP, the entire MaLa folder gets added to startup. So when the PC boots again and windows loads in, startup is trying to run all items in the MaLa folder. (jukebox.mld, mame.mld etc etc)

Did you by chance install Mala in the windows startup folder? I personally just put Mala in C:\Mala and there is a checkbox in the mala options to start up with windows.

Yes, Mala is in the startup folder. I'll move it like you suggest and see how I get on.

Many thanks.

I bet that is the issue, alternatively, you can make a shortcut file to Mala, and place that shortcut in the startup folder.

This is the option that Vigo is telling you ...
