Just looking for ideas on what to get. I currently have a xbox 360 but newer games are being dropped from releasing on the 360 more and more. My desktop has a i5-3570 with a GTX 660 and currently play Titanfall and Infinite Crisis more than anything on it.
Looking to get Evolve on any of them and my current graphics card should run it pretty well. The PS4 has good looking exclusives like Order 1886 that would make it worth switching over to for awhile. Xbox One has exclusives like Halo and Gears of War which makes me want it and I have a bit more friends on the xbox than the other two systems. My computer is already running well and the graphics card is holding up well but for the same price as the consoles i could upgrade and be well off for a few more years.
The gaming addiction is kicking in hard and am itchin to get something new. What does everybody have and why do you like it?
Oh and in other news, I got engaged over the weekend. ;D

gratz on the engagement. I just built a new gaming rig even tho we have two PS4 at the house. But if you have more friends on Xbox If you get a console i would go with it. I like the PS4 more than Xbox One but that is bias as i havnt played on XBOne ill be picking one up for KI exclusive. i like the console for the simple plug and update then play aspect of it. I know when i turn it on it will just work. been a pc gamer all my life. now slowly going to consoles. Most games i play on are console now as well. Even FFXIV.

From a practical stand point, do you have for than 1 pair of footware? Consoles are like shoes/boots. You'll keep your favorite pair of sneakers until you have to get rid of them.
Two points as a married dude. As long as you can afford it, buy what makes you happy; make sure to spend money on her.
Also, if she gets cranky about gaming, you can do the PC upgrade without it being too obvious.

Thanks Yenome. I just built my PC around this time last year and am still getting used to gaming on it. I like your analogy GE but when it comes to games I like a little bit of everything. Just got the Wii u awhile back and already looking for something new. My woman is pretty open about my gaming as i typically do more for her and my daughters than myself so when things like this comes up she says i deserve it. I do want to eventually get both consoles for the exclusives but not sure where to start and then if i really like the first new console i might not want to grab the second. ::)
That link is a really good deal, might have made up my mind for me.

omph...
I forgot the multi shoes Angle, it was implied though. So: sneakers, dress, work formal, snow boots...you name it.

I think i am going to go with the Xbox One, more people I know on it and the deal GE posted is the same price for just a basic xbox one at the local gamestore. For those who have either of the consoles what has been your experience with them. Pros and cons?

There's nothing supremely compelling on either system to fully rationalize a purchase. Microsoft is practically giving away XB1 right now. Was $350 with two controllers and 3 games over the weekend. :o
-
Just built the PC last year? I wouldn't upgrade that for another couple of years...but then again, I'm not you. I'd suggest a console as well, especially if you enjoy gaming with friends/groups and that's where they are.
PS used to have the argument of a free online aspect. I don't believe that's the case anymore. While there are no killer exclusives on any system besides Nintendo stuff), I've always preferred the Halo franchise. You mentioned Gears, but I've heard of no new games for that franchise for the future.
Buddy and myself have been hitting Destiny for awhile now. The multiplayer aspect was done very well.

Just remember that halo only exists because of Bungie making marathon for the Mac. :notworthy:

There is nothing really setting the two apart now. they both use the same Chips from AMD. PS4 uses gddr5 and xbox uses gddr3. I think everyone would be hard pressed to pick the two in a side by side without being told which was which. Only diff is PS4 install and i think load times are faster. Go with the Xbox one. i say that even tho i am a PS4 owner. but for you it seems more people you know on Xbox. So Xbox for you is my suggestion. and later on you can get a new video card. Thing i like about PS4 is the PS+ subscription is good for who ever makes an account on your primary system. not sure if this works for Xbox. For us I make the living room PS4 my primary. and then i can use my account in the bedroom and both have access to PS+ with my one Subscription.

The reason why I got a Xbox 360 and PS3 was to stop the expensive upgrading of my PC to play games. Now when we have games like Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen the console idea is starting to wane. I was looking at the the FX8350 with mainboard and 8gb for $350, (not including the video card) and that is starting to look like a whole better purchase. Also games on the Xbox One and PS4 are not as high quality than their sister platforms nor are the developers starting to get to grips on the new technology. Yet the AMD A10 processor will start bringing console games on these platforms to the PC first, then ported accordingly. I like how that is headed, x86 makes the gaming houses more profitable.
So New Graphics Card for me (and new system).

The Xbox One consistently has new features added via (mostly) monthly updates. Some will argue that the features should have been built into the OS prior to launch. Regardless, small tangibles like that add value.

This has been tired for a long time. Let it go.
If staring at a Windows environment all day doesn't send you running away for something, anything, different then by all means build a gaming PC. My skin crawls at the thought of more time in a chair at a desk.

With Steam and Big Picture mode, you can build a computer and fully control the front end and games with an Xbox controller. You are no longer limited time to your traditional "Desktop".

I bought all of the last gen consoles...eventually...and never really got much use out of them...
Perhaps its just that I'm too busy but I can squeeze a game or two of something on my laptop easier than I can start something on a console.
I have a stack of PS3 titles waiting for me.
I picked up an inexpensive gaming PC last fall that just feels like a better value than a new console. But it really depends on what you will use. If you will play it buy it.

Your decision is a matter of exclusives. Nintendo has the best exclusives. Sony has Resogun and Gran Turismo.

Yeah, I think I am going to just go with the Xbox One for now. Poked around a little bit with my old gamer friends and most of them continued on with the one. A few migrated to the PS4 but like I said before I will most likely just grab both of them eventually. I'll agree the WiiU does have nice exclusives, me and the woman are looking forward to Mario Party and eventually getting DK; oh and that new Zelda open world game looks really good, cant wait for that to come out. Thanks for all of the input though it did help me think of a few different angles.

The Last of Us is reason enough to buy a PS4.
The Uncharted series is a Sony exclusive as well... They have all been fun games so far and Uncharted 4 is in the works.

Last of Us looked fine on PS3. I haven't even opened my PS4 copy.
Uncharted 3 was a turkey. I'm waiting on the honest reviews of 4 before I plunk down on that one.
