Title: WTH did I do wrong? groovymame "not optimum mode"
Post by: cool_factor on February 12, 2015, 07:31:14 pm
GroovyMAME will display this box "Not Optimum Mode" that bounces around the screen when I launch the program, If I go back to the original MAME, it launches fine and games load... I have no clue what Ive done wrong.. Is there a way to set everything back to default with GroovyMAME? I was messing around with Arcade_OSD when this all started, before that GroovyMAME opened and I could load games. Samsung 19" WS monitor is being used for setting everything up before switching over to a 32 Toshiba TV.

HUGE thanks in advance!

delete mame.ini and create a new one...
groovymame.exe -cc

Your using a LCD display?  That is the display telling you your not using it's native resolution.  It's not a problem with Groovymame.

Then why does the normal MAME launch and play games fine? Like I said in OP, I had GroovyMAME launching and playing games, its not until I opened Arcade_OSD and was playing around with it when this happened. Now GroovyMAME will not launch and gives the bouncing box.... Its something I did in Arcade_OSD, it has to be... Ive switched the resolutions on the monitor to everything resolution available to it and it still give this box.

you havnt really provided enough information in order to determine what's wrong (log files, config files and so on). if you are having trouble with groovymame, try mameuifx instead,  that version of mame is in great shape at the moment including working soundsync/syncrefresh related features and would be good for lcd users, without the added stress* of groovymame and related tools.

*which of course greatly pays off once you get used to it.. ;)

+1

Anyway, the problem I'm seeing here is he seems to be using CRT Emudriver and Arcade OSD with an LCD monitor, is that the case? Those programs are only for CRT monitors.

GroovyMAME by default is configured for a generic 15 kHz monitor. Set "monitor lcd" in mame.ini and you are done.

You'll have problems using that software while you have your LCD attached. It can be done if you know what you're doing though. Anyway if you messed things up with Arcade OSD just re-run VMMaker.

I'll give that a shot. Thanks. Another problem is removing the newer ati drivers and reinstalling the crt emu drivers over. Not sure I did that right either, doing a fresh  XP install as we speak. Going to try the ati removal software and see if that helps. If not, dont know what to do next.... Thanks thus far....
