I was reading the DIY smart strip thread debating buying or make my own. Checked prices on Amazon to see the Monster branded versions for right around 15 bucks marked down from 50 or 60 depending on which one you look at. One model was low on stock, but there are others.
It looks like these models are discontinued, but I went ahead and grabbed a couple for my cabs. They should be here this week.

Not that these things were ever worth 50-60 bucks, but $15 for any brand smart strip is gonna be a good deal, as long as it works. It looks like these don't have the adjustment dial that smart strips have, but that should be fine as long as a full computer is being used for the guts.
I noticed that they have a few "Used" ones for $9.99 with free prime shipping, so I bought one of those to try. The condition details said it was still new in package. We will see.

(then Click on the Buy Used Button)
Thanks for the heads up!

Brand New Retail Box with Fast Shipping!!
Hopefully that doesn't mean you just bought a $10 box only !! ( Like this guy's MacBook Photo purchased for $450 - http://www.cnet.com/news/man-buys-macbook-on-ebay-for-450-gets-just-a-picture-of-it/ (http://www.cnet.com/news/man-buys-macbook-on-ebay-for-450-gets-just-a-picture-of-it/) )

I ordered one of the $9.99 used ones to my parent house back in the states.
I still don't know what I am going to build but now I'll hopefully have a smart strip.

I've got one or something similar I bought from Wal-Mart for ~$20. Cannot find a single use for it. It's easy to modify the cheapo strips with a relay for use in MAME cabinets.
:dunno

I hear ya, although I try to avoid my home electronic jobs for things connected on full AC power when it is a matter of $10.

I got the two I ordered last night. I hooked one up to my mamed golden tee. I put the pc on the main plug with the cabinet power (monitor) and the sound amp on the slave outlets. It worked perfectly. Power up the pc and the whole cab comes to life. Shut down the pc and the whole cab goes down. Pretty happy for 15 bucks.

Electricity isn't magic.

No, it is not magic, but the fact that I have never started an electrical fire is.
Got my strip yesterday. Didn't get to test it out, but it looks fine. The "New" packaging they were talking about was just a plastic bag, but I am not picky, it looks unused.
