Hey Guys
I have been lurking for the past few months getting ideas for a cabinet of my own and today decided to create and account and join the conversation. So after spending yesterday reading through the build thread for Revolution I really liked the idea of using an android tablet to do the admin type work (shutdown, startup the cab etc.), this however didn't look like it was achieved in that build and I have not come across anything else.
I want to gauge peoples thoughts on this and see if this type of setup would be wanted by others. If so what type of features would people want it to be able to do and which operating systems would it need to work for. Not actually building my own cab yet I am not exactly sure what is needed from the admin panel.
I have some ideas on the how this would be achieved especially around the startup shutdown of the cab.

My theory is that you shouldn't have admin buttons for an end user to play with. Yeah...

How do you achieve being able to shutdown the cabinet cleanly etc? Is this all just done from the frontend?
I moved forward with working on the server for this idea and now have a working way to shutdown and restart by visiting a local web address. This only works on windows for the moment and there is no way to limit which IP address is sending the request. This is something I will look into later.
Using urls meant that it is really open to other implementations or devices that can send the request.

It's cool you got it working and all, but I'm of the mindset that if I need to use a separate device to use my cab, I'm doing it wrong. KISS.

Fairo, I like the idea of and LCD in the control panel be it a tablet or stand alone LCD and thats where I thought this might be cool. I might keep working on it and see what i blossums into.

One button attached to the motherboard can startup/shutdown. This will be placed inside my coin door. Used in conjunction with a smart strip, it will start and shutdown everything. I don't want end users accidentally hitting the button, or little kids playing when it's not time to play.
Everything else like "tab", an end user should not play with. Connect a keyboard for this when you need to do maintance.

You mention the Revolution build - I know Griff is ditching it in the revised version, so that might tell you something.
