Hi everyone -
Total noob to the control hardware community and this forum, mods please feel free to move this thread if needed.
I've been asked to spec out and put together the components for stationary (wheel is locked) driving setup with three buttons, one of which is a pedal (switch, no analog needed). I was thinking of using the IPAC with the below wheel, but the pedal with microswitch we'd like to use on HAPP won't be in stock early enough for our needs.
Multiple questions:
1) will the buttons on the wheel be usable with IPAC?
2) does anyone have any suggestions for a switch footpedal? Needs to be durable as the setup will be going on tour.
3) would the pedals below work with IPAC?
4) How do I know if a particular pedal/footswitch I find somewhere would be usable with IPAC? What wiring or amperage tolerance and other specs are needed for it to work?
EDIT 5) Just confirming this pedal would work? http://na.suzohapp.com/amusement_products/driving_controls/50-8194-00 (http://na.suzohapp.com/amusement_products/driving_controls/50-8194-00)
Apologies for the noobishness, I haven't taken a hardware/circuitry class in several years and the hardware responsibilities were unexpectedly cast unto me.
Thanks in advance!

Hi
The most stupid question is the one never asked :P
In general the IPAC interface (and other similar decoders) only cares about a signal being grounded via a normally open switch. It doesn't matter if it is a green or red, square or round, foot or wheel based switch.
So yes, both the wheel and pedals suggested should be fine. Couldn't find any info about the switches in the wheel but I assume they are N.O.
The current/voltages involved are low, so more or less any kind of switch you will ever find is good for this type of application. The same goes for wiring (in general, there are always circumstances with very long wiring in harsh environments etc).
