Builders, if there is a picture you would prefer represent your build rather than the one chosen please pm me with a url and I will get it changed out
Thanks.

The chosen Pic for the Blip Build doesn't really do it justice --Hopefully voters are checking the build threads so they will realize the Marquee on it is interactive and changes to display the current game marquee and isn't just a black\grey panel (though guess that is hard to show in a single pic !)-- since the machine is turned off )

Pic adjusted, if Mark want's a different one shown he can PM UCA or Le Chuck.

Flynn's Arcade. Blip is an impressive project to say the least. But the lack of "under the hood" pics has me wondering. I need to see the whole picture, even the "ugly" bits, before I can give my vote to a project. Both are beautiful builds I'd be proud to call my own, but Chance won my vote by a nose. Chance embarked on quite the journey teaching himself various techniques he saw implemented in other members' builds here. That earns my admiration.

Not that the first pic was a bad pic - just wanted to let others know that it was an interactive display (which as mentioned is hard to convey in a single pic) Hopefully though as mentioned everyone is reviewing the build threads before voting anyway as they all deserve a close look

R-Pod MKII by a long shot. There are some awesome builds in this year's category but Space Hedgehog's is the only one that I wouldn't change anything on. I love Blip, especially the marquee execution, but I'd change things if it was mine. The R-Pod is perfection.

Blip! does a few things I normally don't care for (swappable panels, LCD marquee), yet I fell in love with it when I saw the final product because of the seamless integration of it. JDFan is right, one needs to look at the whole thread to really appreciate what was accomplished.

^ This , no need to reemphasize my love for that cab, just read my posts in the project thread.

The quality of builds in this category is insane :applaud:
R-Pod MKII for me.

Okay So with all the Space Hedgehog love, I feel like I need to explain why I think Blip deserves this category...
First of all, with regards to the R Pod MK II, it is indeed flawlessly executed. Not surprising given Space Hedgehog might as well be a professional arcade builder. His attention to detail and MDF work is unrivaled. But IMO his work, while technically perfect, is almost all in the same vein. His Viewlix, and his Command Pod both use similar design elements. When I think of other master builders like LeChuck, Maximus, and Ond each of their projects has it's own dynamic flair, and to me some of that mojo is needed to beat out the other fine cabs in this category.
Now for Blip, how many times do we see MAME cabinets that are built to play many different games, with many different controls, often with more and more features added during the process... Automated panels, switching joys, rotating screens, support for more and more titles and consoles, LED controls..... So many times good intentions morph into ugly ass $3000 pieces of crap..... It is downright refreshing to see a MAME cabinet that can do as much as Blip, yet be so eloquently designed that anyone could walk right up and instantly become enthralled in BOTH it's game play and aesthetics.
Also one can't take away from Malenko, ChanceKJ, EMDB, and Yamatetsu... All of their cabs are awesome....
Wish their were enough minipin's to spin them off..... I like both, but I can't judge them against the rest of these cabs.

While the theme seems slightly odd, Clint gets my vote for its lovely stark paint scheme. Get's my vote (",)

Blip gets my vote. :applaud:

My vote goes to Blip for build quality and fancy leds On the CP. I do like the lcd marquee too but think anybody with a money tree can add it to their cab. Unfortunately my tree won't grow ;)
-
Multiball madness for me. Hadn't seen it until I looked at this thread but very very cool. A vpin is my next project so Martijns build log/parts list will be invaluable.
But the lack of "under the hood" pics has me wondering. I need to see the whole picture, even the "ugly" bits, before I can give my vote to a project.
Under the hood pics as requested ;D

Yamatetsu's Clint (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,140758.0.html) - attention to detail is outstanding.

The quality of builds in this category is insane :applaud:
I'm having a tough time deciding between Blip and Flynn's. Both are immaculate builds.
This is the toughest category and those two are at the top for me as well.
-
The traditionalist in me won my vote. But almost all are fine builds.

This is an insane category to pick from. All of these builds are amazing in their own way and it's a shame we can only pick one. I carefully narrowed it down to Blip and Flynn's Arcade but in the end Flynn's Arcade wins for me. I'm not really into switching panels which was a slight knock against Blip but the active marquee is something I really like seeing and hope to incorporate into my current build. Two things sealed the deal for me.. I love how the Tron/Encom/Flynns theme ran through Chances entire project from coin door to tokens. I also liked the fact that he appeared to learn an awful lot from the forums and in turn gave that knowledge back through his build thread. It is incredibly detailed and I likely read something on the Flynns Arcade build thread nearly every time I am in the forums. Congratulations to everyone nominated in this category. I'm sure the results will be really close. :applaud:

I'm in the same boat. When I look back and think of the one thread that i enjoyed most, it has to be Chances build. The detail put into everything is what sets it above the others. Blip is so nice though.... :'(

Thanks guys! All these kind words mean a lot :D
Some of these builds I cited in my build thread as giving inspiration to my own. So to be up against them is kinda humbling. Each one is as amazing as the next.
-
This category proves why I would never want to be a judge in a competition....all of these builds deserve the nomination.
When it comes down to a vote Flynn's, Blip and R-Pod are all right there at the top. Nice work to all of you.

I agree, this category is one of the hardest to vote for!
Blip: I recall when I first discovered Markc74's Litemax video showcasing the marquee and games. I stumbled upon it in 2013 on Youtube... And the rest is history. I'm glad he put it to good use with his great cab.
Flynn's Arcade: What can I say, that thing is gorgeous. It's a four player cab with all the bells and whistles but not gaudy... AT ALL.
Broadcast Bullies: A hard lesson I learned after building my first arcade: Simpler is better. And I haven't looked back. This is a great cabinet with minimal clutter on the CP. And I'm a huge fan of SmashTV and the layout. Malenko, great job on making this a 2 player/4 player hybrid.
Project Retrocade: My next build is going to look like this. Seriously. I love everything about it. Especially the color and art package. Nice job EMDB.
P.S. - What? No love for The Clint? That thing is a work of art. I love the attention to detail and how everything ties together!
It's so hard to choose! Great work everyone!!!! :applaud:
