Post by: Generic Eric on January 29, 2015, 11:06:17 pm
I've never  seen such a thing, how many dual screen  cocktails were ever made?  Or is this a thing made possible  by mame?

that looks like hyperspin, and the link I linked shows the pc.

My question was did dual screen cocktails exsisted in the wild before emulation.

Only one close I've seen would be the Red Tent Nintendo VS systems

Well, and realistically, those are LCDs. There's no way you could cram two CRTs into a box that size.

It looks more like a single screen but with a bezel over the middle section.  My mini cocktail shows dual screens, on a single LCD, when the game is a horizontal game.

Could be done that way but in this case he mentions in the specs on the build thread :
Quote
- (2) HP Compaq LE1711 17" LCD Monitors - 1280x1024, 1000:1 Native, 5ms, 60Hz, VGA
So using 2 17" LCDs which are shown a bit better in this pic --

There's not THAT much of a gap between screens on a single screen in cocktail mode. JDFan's post shows that.

It's cool to see this kinda thing actualy built. I had planned on a 2x screen cocktail build myself. However I opted to build the DKU instead. So cool.

Would be even better if you set it up with 2 linked systems so you could either play 2 different single player games or one head to head.

Which games can you do that with?

I would think all of them, with a kvm switch.

Was thinking having it setup so 2nd player monitor and system was either a seperate second single player screen and system or using a switch could be set to mirror first player screen and inputs connected to first system to play any 2 player game with a mirrored monitor to play heads up.

Nope. No need for one. If we're playing a 2P game, I need to be able to elbow you.
