I've scoured the forum for a fix to this issue but can't seem to find what a solution. Someone appeared to run into the same problem and going into config and setting it to 'Long' from short seemed to fix it. But not in my case...
I upgraded to Mame .157 and got a .157 set of Roms from [source redacted per Rule 5]. Everything runs great in Mame, but maximus gives me error messages about missing files and then an fatal error. What am I missing? My last version of Mame was .154 so there can't be that many changes to the files can there?
The only thing I did that might be a little weird was copy over some INI files from my MAME .154 to MAME .157 to save my control settings etc. Again Mame doesn't have any issues, it's just Maximus. Did I copy over some obscure file that Maximus uses and isn't compatable with .157?
Thank you all

What format are your new ROMS in ?? -- many of the sources have changed from .zip to .7z and by default Maximus does not look for that extension !! - SO you need to add it to the formats Maximus looks for in the Preferences - Configuration - Scan options - if indeed you are using .7z format roms. (as shown in the Pic below)

Thanks for your reply so quickly.
I think they are all .zip because some of them like 1942 seemed to play. I will run home at lunch and check though. But I'm pretty sure that [source redacted per Rule 5] puts them all in as *.zips. :)

That didn't work. I have even installed fresh MAMEUI 64 and Maximus Arcade, moved the ROMS file to C:\roms and it still gives me an error. Now Maximus sees the games and I can select them, but when I go to play one I get this error (this one is for the ROM '005'):

IF you open the 005.zip file what does it show ?? (ie. Are those files directly inside the zip or do you get another 005.zip folder ? ) from the error it looks like the zip might have been repacked inside another zip file - thus the checked in 005 005)
-
When I open up C:\ROM\005.zip the Prom files etc are in there where they belong. But that is my initial thought, Maximus is looking for a folder within a folder that doesn't exist. I'm stymied.

IS it C:\Rom or C:\Roms ?? YOu said onee in the first post and the other in the second -- If you did the same misspelling in the setup that could be the problem :dunno
Also is the Mameui.exe in the C:\ folder or a sub folder ? Usually the Roms folder is inside the same folder as MameUI.exe so that MAME looks for the Roms folder as a subfolder in whatever folder MameUI.exe is in (unless you added the correct path in the setup)

I figured it out.. finally. Thanks JDfun for your help.
I upgraded mame from .154 to .0157 - in doing so I remember now moving my mame.ini file to save my video, controller and other settings. Inside there it still listed my ROMS in the directory of C:\MAME154 instead of the C:\MAME157. Once I fixed that everything worked perfect. ugh.

Glad you got it sorted -- Figured it was something simple that was just being overlooked (like a simple misspelling or similar) - all it takes is one little thing like that and unfortunately those can be the hardest to find at times
