I never had a PC that would run this on its original release. I'm forced to give you my impression. Its fun to play. It sure shows its age though, even when I max the settings.
The game is ridiculously linear and if you go out of bounds, the focus gets wonky and the only option is to crash. That too is difficult because the game turns you around if you are out of bounds. The ceiling is kind of low for a starship if you ask me.
Anyway, there is some feedback, so I don't come of as some sort of sales person or hypemaster.

I read that the controls are still totally janky and it doesn't really accept modern inputs that well, have you tried it with a joystick?

Ya, the saitek x45. It's ok.

Can you get through all the menus w/out a mouse? Thanks bud!

I used the mouse to select the game from my desktop.
Once the game started, I was able to create a new save, launch the mission, select a fighter, start the mission, play around a bit and quit the mission, delete the new save I had previously crated, then game, strictly using the keyboard.
