Title: LEGO anyone?

So every year for christmas, me or one of the boys always gets a set and I have to admit  I am a huge fan of this stuff!  The kids love the minifigures and playing with the sets and I love the building side of things.  We recently went through a huge star wars phase (the $400 bin of old clone wars sets helped that) and are now moving into the lord of the rings stuff.

One thing that amazed me was the resale value of this stuff--all my kids other toys are basically given away or tossed when they are done with them as they have very little resale value--when the lego stuff gets sold I'm seeing at least a 50% return and in some cases %150 return--there's a  whole other world of collectors, collections parts etc..just wondered if anyone else had the bug...

Some sets (the pod racer stuff was all sold--kids had no interest as they were a bit too fragile to play with--I'm not really a fan of the episode 1 either):

I don't understand why they have to be so damn expensive. Also, because of the Lego games, I sometimes want to buy just a certain figure, but they don't make them individually available.

I enjoy Lego, I just can't afford it.

I gave a ton of it to my friends kids.  I used to be a master builder, but my mates kids enjoy it all the time, so it is fun to be the casual adviser.

Sweet ghostbusters set-my kids would resist playing with that for about 2 seconds!  As far as individual guys--I just order them loose off ebay--my youngest currently thinks legolas is the coolest so i might surprise him with one (used of course)

I'm on the hunt right now for helm's deep set--pricey but i don't mind so much, knowing i will get a majority of my money back when they tire of it since lego holds its value well and is quite durable!
