Title: Quick Disconnects / female SPade connector size UK
Post by: Blueic5 on January 16, 2015, 08:20:41 am
Hi

I have some happ buttons from Ultimarc and I also ordered some quick disconnects or female spade connectors from ebay in what I thought was the correct UK / metric sizing of 4.8mm but they are slightly to big and not a very snug fit.    I believe that in the US they are .187 and that translates to 4.75mm but I can only find 4.8mm and the spade is just that fraction to big as mentioned.  Anyway can someone advise what size I need to look for as I do have one on the end of a car speaker cable that seems perfect just no idea what size it is :(?

4.8mm should fit just fine, because those are the same size QDs I used for IL buttons. Are they too big, meaning they are too loose?

The Happ website says .187 is the right size but I am pretty sure that smaller .125 connectors also exist so maybe you need those instead? Best best would be to talk to Andy at Ultimarc since the buttons came from there.

Try squeezing them with pliers. A QD should fit tightly.

If they are not staying on and just sliding off then you probably just need to use a pair of pliers to press down on the fitting - they are sometime manufactured loose so need to be crimped down a bit to get them to stay on (just press down on the end with a pair of pliers to make the spacing between the opening smaller and they should be fine ! (if you press too hard and close the opening just use a screw driver to pry it back open a bit)
