Title: Ability to attach 7z files?
Post by: BadMouth on January 15, 2015, 06:20:28 pm
Just tried to attach a 7z zipped file to a post and it was rejected because isn't included in the file types that are permitted to be uploaded.
It's free and has become more common than .rar and some of the other file types permitted.

If it's something that takes under two minutes to add, I think it would be worthwhile.

If it's a hassle, no big deal.

i've seen people sometimes wanting to attach an excel spreadsheet (xls and xlsx) but cant, so ask you to rename the file from txt to excel after downloading. another one maybe; i dont know if .bat (batch) files are still popular, i suppose you still see them sometimes (mind you i dont know if batch files are generally seen as risky)... maybe also Word (.doc) files would be a bonus.. and possibly .wav files if people are wanting to share eg. sound effects they use with their frontends etc (perhaps .mp3 would be a bonus too?).   the only other two i can think of are .avi and .mp4 (but mind you i suppose movie files might be too big anyway)

I think the popular image types and the popular compression types (7z, zip, rar) are enough. If you want to share a file, might as well zip it up.

Mp3 or something for audio bits would be awesome.
