Title: monitor cloning problem
Post by: apfelanni on January 15, 2015, 12:18:19 pm
my setup : coreduo pc , xp 64 , radeon 4850 ( 2 dvi ) , crt emudriver 9.3 . monitors are dell ultrasharp 2001 lcd and a nec xm2960 analog crt . both monitors are doin fine alone , but i want to output a cloned picture 1024x768 60 hertz . via the windows monitor settings i can only find monitor extension , which works fine , but is of no use . i know the generic ati catalyst drivers come with ccc , which has some options for monitor setting like cloning . i prefer not to install - deinstall the catalyst driver package to make this work ( not to mention all the annoying netframe , trial games , toolbars , live online registrations .. whatever ) .

is there a way to install ccc only without anything else ( maybe there are ccc standaloneversions available i m not aware of ) , or could i handle the clone setting somewhere per hand ? ati software always brings me to the edge .  deinstalling and reinstalling kills all default lowres videomodes . maybe via vm maker  i can generate them again . or somehow make ccc work with the hacked 9.3 crt emudriver . rotating windows screen is another feature i used on a vertical screen some time ago .

ps. on another comp with x600 card dmi 59 plug and 2 lowres monitors the cloning worked out of the box .

Hi apfelanni,

CCC really sucks and I avoid installing it if possible. You can indeed install just CCC without reinstalling the driver. Download the right version from the links here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,121407.msg1418572.html#msg1418572 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,121407.msg1418572.html#msg1418572)

Then run the .exe installer, let it unpack the files and then *cancel* the installation. You'll find the unpacked files in c:\ATI\Support...
Then search for the CCC installer (can't remember its name but you'll find it easily).

If all you want is rotating the display it is a much better solution to just use iRotate: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/irotate.shtm (http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/irotate.shtm)
Tiny app that I really like.

With W7 you can also clone/extend with DisplaySwitch.exe that is included with the OS. Unfortunately you can't do that in XP so the CCC is required.

okidoki .. i installed crt emudriver 64 9.3 , netframework 2.0 , the extracted ccc  and vm maker arcade osd 1.4 .  the crt emudriver included vm maker was unable to create the lowres modelines , only a handful gerneric ones . but the 1.4 worked fine .  after setting the screens to 1024x768 and clone image via the ccc it was finally done .  steam and mame are running as expected . thanx man for assistence .

there is something i d like to mention . the gui 64 0.157 mame failed starting with reporting : the procedure entry point could not be enabled  bla bla .. ( or something like that ) . some hazzle with dlls i guess .  nongui or older 64 bit and newer 32 bi t guis are doin fine . dunno what could have been changed in 64 bit gui version , so i stick with the mame 0.148 at the moment .

ps. for testing i used a xbox 360 cable controller.  its very easy to setup in steam , mame and mala . win 7 will autorecognize it and for xp 64 u can dl the driver pack from ms .
might be an option for nonarcadecab emulator fans .

so far so good .. next thing on the list is getting the aee emulator to work with the 4850 ati card and checking the windows rotation mode on the vertical multisync . time consumptive configurations on vertical screens could crick ur neck .
