Title: MAME games video preview not displaying in MALA

Hi-

I can't get MAME video game previews (.MP4) that I have downloaded from emumovies to play in the Video object in MALA.  I did some testing, and MALA will play the .MP4 videos in the Video2 object if I specify a specific game preview to play, and it will play the videos in the screensaver mode.  I've loaded other layouts and they don't display in those either.  I am using the version 1.74 of MALA, and I have the "Attract Videos" field on the "Pictures and Videos" tab on the "MAME Config" tab populated with the path of the .MP4 game videos.  "Show Videos" on the "Pictures and Video" tab on the "Options" tab on the "GUI" tab is checked.  The snaps, control panels, cabinets and marquees all display correctly.  Am I wrong in inferring that the Video object in the MALA layout links to the "Attract Videos" field?  If not, what is my missing link?

I am NOT getting a black box where the game preview video should be playing, and I don't hear anything on my speakers.

Any comments are greatly appreciated!

MP4's weren't supported in 1.74

It was added in the 1.745 beta
Download the latest beta.

Hi

I'm having this issue too, so I downloaded the latest beta (1.820). Now my mp4 videos just display as a black box, although I can hear the sound of the vid playing, fine. The videos preview fine in Windows 7.

Any ideas? Thanks.

could be a couple things, make sure the video layer is on top, easiest way to do this is to make a new skin using the base and add a video window with nothing else around it just to see if it plays. If its still black I'd suggest installing something like the CCCP ( http://cccp-project.net/ (http://cccp-project.net/) ) to make sure the codecs are installed properly.

I installed CCCP and now vids are playing great. Thanks a lot!  :applaud:
