Title: Questions about remapping buttons
Post by: Evilpenguinj on January 04, 2015, 04:01:00 pm
Hi All

It's been awhile since I have been on the board.  Just got the cab up and running again.

I have 2 8 way joysticks with 6 buttons each.  When playing a 2 player game I notice the buttons for player 2 are not the same as player 1.  Now I could have just wired them wrong, but I don't feel like getting into fixing that right now.  So is there a standard config I should use?  My button layout looks like this:

          XXX                  XXX
  J      XXX          J      XXX

Also I am running Mame 0.147, and noticed that games like NBA Jam don't work.  I understand that has been fixed in 0.147U2.  But how do I go about upgrading to that and is it worth the hassle.

Thanks in advance!

There is no standard tho:

123
456

is very popular.  As for getting them both the same in mame just hit tab, go into the global settings and set it the same for P2 as P1.  No reason to rewire anything.

If you're really into fighters you might prefer

135
246

but YMMV.
