Title: How do I remove a Joystick?
Post by: gregkinnear2 on January 03, 2015, 10:10:26 pm
I just got my first arcade machine in December - an original Street Fighter II cabinet.  I would like to restore it as much as possible and so I will have many question for the people on this forum.  The first question I have is: how do I remove the joysticks?

I have taken the Player 1 joystick apart as much as I can but I do not know how to remove the stick top.  I have tried holding the bottom in place and twisting the stick top off but it seems to be on there solidly.  The joysticks still work so I would like to be able to keep them.  Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

Carefully remove the E-ring (bottom left corner) using a small flat-blade screwdriver to push the belly of the "E" away from the shaft.

Warning: They can go flying across the room.

E-clip, also known as a Jesus clip.  Because when it goes flying... well, you know...

Cup your hand over the clip so it doesn't go flying and definitely wear safety glasses.

I personally get the screwdriver in place and then wrap a cloth around everything so it has nowhere to go but my net!
