I was given a relatively gutted Neo-Geo cab and am planning to MAME it. The arcade monitor works great, so it seems like the ArcadeVGA card is the way to go. I need to know what other modern hardware goes with it, in terms of cores / mobos / power supplies / etc. I've been out of the hardware game for a while so I don't really know what's out there. NewEgg doesn't even let you search for a mobo that has the required PCI Express x16 slot... Also, does the ArcadeVGA act as a graphics card or should I be concerned about integrated GPU? How much RAM? And so on...
Seems like these should be common questions but I don't seem to know how to search for good recent results on it.
Basically I'm pretty confused. If anybody can help me spec out a system that'll have great performance, I'd really appreciate it. Games that I have had trouble emulating before that I'd really like to work would include a lot of that 1999 - 2003 sweet spot: Gradius 4, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, Tekken 3 (or tag team, etc), and so on. Ideally I'd also like to be able to run console games through as late as the Sega Naomi stuff, but I'll take what I can get.

Check again on the filters for motherboards. I was just up there and you can filter by PCI Express.

You may want to check out this (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,140112.0.html) thread for a good deal on systems.

If anybody could talk a bit about what features I need to look for in a motherboard, that would be really helpful.

Can't help you out on the system specs as I am more of an 80's arcade enthusiast. Sorry.
