I've had this done for a while now.
I was wondering if anyone has tested out the WIFI HDMI boxes I've seen around the internet?

Take one for the team and test it out for us. I've pondered it but I can't really rationalize the expense when I can get a long cable for $10. Mount a plate on the back of your cabinet and the cable detaches and coils up quickly.

I could have sworn someone tried this already and said there was just enough lag to make it "not quite there" yet.

I'm sure one is out there that will work, but those are the ones that are priced higher than what it took you to build the pedestal.
I tried one here recently, 100 ft. range and it was ok, but it did pixelate a little too often for me ($200.00). I was able to play my ps3 streamed from upstairs to a downstairs monitor. However I did send it back.
There is a more advanced version 200ft. range, but its like 498.00.
Your setup might be closer, but, I think you will get more frustrated with it than enjoy playing the pedestal. I'm with PBJ, get a good long HDMI cable from monoprice(way cheaper and works flawlessly) and call it a day.
Way i see it, you have to plug this thing into a wall right, so having 1 extra to the TV is not gonna kill ya....

Ive used WiDi for wireless HDMI, whiles its great for presentations ie slideshows and the like, I dont think it'd bode well for gaming.

Skrathe - I used to be a cable installer in my younger days and found it is quite easy to run cable if you just plan out your route. HDMI cables are also close to .50 cent a foot. I bought one for my dad and ran it from his projector to his component room with little to no effort. Long story short I would see if you can run and hide a hdmi cable before you get involved in HDMI over wifi. It sounds like a fledgling technology and more trouble than it is worth.

I was thinking the same thing but was hoping something else. This was more an idea for a future project like a coffee table or portable box. I'm stuck with cables for the pedestal, it has to have USB also for the light guns.

Nice pedestal.
You should have done a build thread for her. We need more pedestal build threads.

I put a few details over at Hyperspin. Documenting projects is a skill I'm skill working on.
