Title: Burn in - Does it bother you?
Post by: csnow on December 25, 2014, 01:01:35 pm
I recently bought a Galaga/MsPac reunion cabinet.  I know Ms Pac are notorious for burn in due to the static maze image.  On a dedicated rig, it probably isnt a big deal but I can see the images when playing Galaga.  I put an ArcadeSD card in the cabinet and the ghosted burn in is aggravating me.  I tinted the glass yesterday in hopes of making my problem go away but all it did was mask it a bit more.  Am I being overly anal or does burn in bother you guys too?  I am tempted to order a 25" vga crt off eBay but another $400 is a hard pill to swallow.

Oh, Merry Christmas to you and your family today!

Chris

it doesnt bother me. in addition to tinting the glass, you can also adjust contrast and brightness to hide it a little better. If it does irk you, the only solution is a new monitor :/

Not sure how dark you went with the tint, but a shade darker will probably help more, unless you can see it bad in the illuminated parts of the image.  If that's the case, not much can be done.

If it's mild, and doesn't muck up the lighted parts, it wouldn't bother me too much.

maybe also,   give it a bit more time, you might stop worrying about it as time goes on. reason i say that is, when i bought my current car, it had a chip in the windscreen right in my face, which i got repaired but the guy did such a bad job of the repair (he didnt flush/clean out the chip before he filled it), so now i have a kind of black mark (trapped dirt) right in my face as im driving. it really annoyed me for a few weeks but now i do not notice it anymore as i drive, i now just kind of look through it. i havnt thought about it at all for months (until now). :)
