Following on from this BYOAC thread here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,130136.msg1331485.htmll) and the one over at MAMEworld here (http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=303661), with a bit of trial and error I've been able to get a 2 PC LAN version of Virtua Forumla running successfully, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get rid of the big black borders that surround the playing window in full-screen mode in both versions of the game. I've tried changing some of the graphics options in the MAME.ini file but nothing seems to get the desired effect (I even tried copying and pasting stuff from another single player full screen version of MAME, but that didn't work) and there doesn't seem to be any way to change it in game from the video options you can access with the tab button.
Does anyone here know how to get them to fill the whole screen?

No experience with linking, but did you change the monitor to widescreen in the game's service menu?
-
Yep, tried that, didn't make any difference to the black borders unfortunately.

Most likely the cabMAME default steal the show .)
mame.ini
changeres "0"
