Title: Sourcing Metal for control panels
Post by: Generic Eric on December 14, 2014, 10:02:42 pm
Is it possible that metal of a side panel of a dryer, stove or washing machine would be thick enough for a control panel?

i would say old ones would be fine, newer appliances not so much.

I would guess no.  When you lightly push on most washer/dryers that I have seen the "pop" in and out pretty easily and make quite a thundery racket.

Maybe if you double up a couple of sheets?

I think size of panel, and if you are bending the metal at any spot would make a difference as well. I would think you could easily reinforce it in key areas as well.
