Hi Guys,
Dumb question, but how do I know which microswitch to wire to Up, Down, Left Right on my MiniPac?
My ServoStiks have 4 microswitches Top Left, Bottom Left, Top Right, Bottom Right.
Which gets wired up... to down... to left... to right... on the MiniPac?
If someone could fill in the blanks below, I'd really appreciate it!
TOP LEFT MICROSWITCH =
BOTTOM LEFT MICROSWITCH =
TOP RIGHT MICROSWITCH =
BOTTOM RIGHT MICROSWITCH =
Thanks so much. I'm pretty confused here

look at where the stick his the legs:
looks like the top left would be down, bottom right would be up , top right would be left, and bottom left would be right. Almost all sticks have very similar switch layouts.

So the Microswitch terminals point in the correct direction, yes?
That makes sense. Thanks!

dumb question, dumb answer.
Move the joystick, and see what switch it activated.
Once you do one, it'll make perfect sense.

no, pushing the joystick up will hit the bottom right switch, which points to the right.
Wire it up, start a game, like TMNT and just see where the guy moves when you hit the controller like sarver said.

Thanks, ya, I got it. My response wasn't clear. My ServoStiks are rotated with the motors on the top... so the switch terminals DO point in the correct direction.
Thanks for the help guys.

No they wont. rotating the base doesnt change what direction the actuator will hit.

When you push down on the stick, the blue switch gets hit, so you wire the top left to down
When you push right on the stick, the green switch gets hit, so you wire top right to right
When you push left on the stick, the yellow switch gets hit, so you wire the bottom left to left
When you push up on the stick, the red switch gets hit, so you wire the bottom right to up

THANK YOU Malenko!
You get a gold star for most helpful response ever!

Common sense ain't so common...

Good catch on correcting your blue microswitch connection.

Less about common sense, more about a full understanding of how the joystick interacts with the microswitches...
His diagram made it really easy to understand.
Appreciate all the help

:dizzy: Common sense dictates that to figure out which switch is for what direction, you watch them actuate as you move the joystick... Which could have been completed astronomically faster than starting a thread asking this sort of question...

I knew one of you guys would point it out. I didn't intend to highlight which leg of the switch he should wire, but then I realized I did it correctly for 3 of the switches, so I just fixed the blue one so it was 100% accurate.

Everyone was a noob once. Well except Chad, he invented all this arcade stuff.

Yeah but it gave me an excuse to stop working and play in photoshop for a couple of minutes

Well, Except Newoski will always be a noob because of the screen name he selected. ;D >:D
