Title: Pachislo locks?
Post by: pbj on November 28, 2014, 06:14:09 pm
Thanksgiving.  Relatives with the junk store announce, "you're good with this stuff aren't you?"

Key is missing.  Much BS later, here we are.

Drilled a hole in the latch, ran a wire out the top.

I'm all ears if any of you know how to do this right.

You drilled a hole through the top of the cab? Are you ---smurfing--- me? Usually there is a hole on the back or bottom of them where you could reach the lock if need be.

A locksmith could have made a key and it wouldn't have been too expensive. You just ruined the machine for no reason.

Nope, I ran a wire out of a factory drilled topper mounting hole.  There are four holes in the top already.

Ruined the machine?   :lol  Ok

Will have to dust off the pachitalk login....

Phew. Relief.

But next time, just bring it to a locksmith. Every time I go, I'm surprised at how cheap I walk out of there and wonder how they make money.

Keil, I can understand your passion but c'mon.  Thin particle board cabinet wrapped around a worthless slot machine.  I really try to avoid irreversible hacks on machines but the idea of loading this ugly beast into my car and taking three hours off work for a locksmith to declare "I dunno, this will be expensive" is laughable.

Figured this one out.  Lock assembly unscrews and detaches from back.  Two pins hold the actual lock in place.  Poked them in with a hammer and nail and yanked lock out.  Inside is a shaft with a slot in it.  You can turn with a flat head screwdriver.  I yanked a dowel rod off a foam paint brush, flattened one side slightly, widened the dowel hole, painted it red, put epoxy in it and glued it to the shaft.

If it falls off, back to the screwdriver.  I left the wire in place as a backup.

Back to the junk store it goes!!!
