Hey Calamity and crew,
I'm having trouble getting Windows 7 with CRT EMUDRIVER to work on my New Astro City monitors. I have Windows XP version of the drivers running just fine on my MS9 monitors in my Astro cabs, no issue.
I originally followed the instructions provided to get Windows 7 working in 15khz and was unsuccessful on my Astros. Later I tried on another monitor that is tri-sync, and it works perfect under 15khz on this monitor, but not my MS9s in my New Astro City cabs. I just get a black screen with no desktop with my Astros.
I'm running through a J-PAC on the New Astro cabs, but only straight DB15 on my tri-sync monitor. I haven't tried to get 24/31khz working as it's not important for my needs. 15khz runs fine.
I'm running latest CRT Emudriver for Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. Radeon 4550 PCI-E.
I unfortunately I don't have the tri-sync cab in the same location as the Astros, so I can only test them at one location or another.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Pictures of GroovyMAME running on Tri-sync monitor. It's a Toshiba Pure Flat in my Sega New Net City cab.

That's the typical detection issue. Use the other output (DVI) with an DVI-VGA converter.

I had it hooked up this method originally, perhaps I missed something. I now have it running through DVI>VGA on the tri-sync. Hopefully when I take it home to my other cabs it will sort itself out. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the quick response, Calamity. :)

I have it working now, but I have inconsistent behavior when connecting it from the monitor at one location to another. I don't have 480i as a selectable option, though I had it working at one point in time. Just can't seem to get my options to stay put.

Yup, I was having the very same consistency issues on my NAC with that very same gpu even with monitor swap steps. I ended up giving up and sticking with XP since I was going to run groovymame off of dual monitors anyway.

Hi stellarola,

I'm not sure but it could be the same issue that's known to happen with HD 48xx cards. I'd like to make sure if this is the case, so I can buy one of those cards and test it here myself. It's a bit difficult to find a solution without having the physical card here to test.

I finally settled the issue I was experiencing with random drops in framerate. The frame drop would become even greater when I'd increase the frame_delay setting. My solution was to turn speedstep off. 100% speed in Futari now! :)

Thanks for sharing this! This is interesting, I didn't know that feature even existed, this will help other users with this kind of issues.

thanks i just turned it off on my pc also as i noticed it was set to enabled, and dont want my system worrying about that :)
in some pc's bios screens, the speedstep feature will be simply known as E.I.S.T
(Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency)

Just following up with this. I tested with Win 7 on my MS9 again and that solution seems to have worked partially. I'm able to exit GroovyMAME back to desktop/frontend without the monitor desyncing. The only times I lose the 15k is when I restart Windows. I haven't yet tried setting a permanent screen resolution in Windows 7 or found where to hide unsupported resolutions in screen properties other than the Arcade OSD.
Anyhow, any progress is good progress.
