Title: Struggling with my first build... Games Family 2100 PCB/Jamma inside.

Hi all,

First time poster/newbie here. Glad I stumbled across a forums site after my many failed search attempts. Hoping someone can ease my frustrations with a suggestion or two...

I'm at the tail end of my first build. Decided to go with one of these Games Family systems. Originally picked up a 3149 in 1, but ended up sending it back thinking it was faulty. Just received a second unit, this time a 2100 in 1 with the same issue.

I can't seem to get any screen or sounds after fully connected and fired up. Feels as though I have quadruple checked all my wiring, but not getting any results. Here's a small list of things I have tried troubleshooting so far...

Arcade monitor has power
WellsGardner 60hz monitor and RGB, Gnd, and sync are connected
Jamma harness +12v, +5v, -5v, Gnd are hooked up and working. Tested with voltmeter.
Jamma harness seems to be wired correctly. Plugged it into my original Golden Tee pcb to test and works fine.
Using 20 pin ATX per manual to power the PC
PC fan and hard drive spinning
tested a second ATX power with same results - no signal to screen
attempted to hook up CPU monitor to VGA port - no response/no signal

I'm stumped.

Anyone have an idea where I'm going wrong?

UPDATE:

Obviously it helps if I plug in the CPU processor. ;D

Got it up and running.. All is good, with the exception of the monitor.

I am unable to use the arcade monitor in the cabinet because I don't have a way of connecting it.

Back to the web to find out how...

those multi-in-1 boards often have a dip switch you have to adjust for it to output either VGA (in the case of a computer monitor or tri sync arcade monitor), or "15k" for output to a standard res arcade monitor through the jamma harness connections...

all the arcade monitor needs for video is Red, Green, Blue, Ground, and Sync to operate. your multi-in-1 board should have come with a book with a diagram of the JAMMA harness and it's connections. if for some reason it didn't, here's one:

wire straight from the harness to the monitor. no conversion or other hardware outside of a physical plug should be necessary to operate..

Thank you. This particular 2100-1 didn't come with that little VGA to 6pin plug that connects to,the second deck jamma Board. I've contacted Andy at Ultimarc and also got a hold of a guy who sells parts for it straight out of china.

I opted to just purchase a new VGA monitor and planning to replace the CGA arcade monitor. Picked up one today. The plug would have cost me $6 plus $32 shipping. Just didn't want to wait any longer for something I'm not 100% sure would work. Kind of tired of fiddling with it all and rather play it.

Now I'll have a good arcade monitor that I'll need to get rid of.

i see. this is wone of those computer with a jamma I/O board on there.

most of the multi-in-1's i've seen are an all in one board. (6/32/60 in 1) but yeah, it should have come with a cable to pass the video from the motherboard to the I/O board to go out the jamma. i guess they assumed you'd just be hooking this straight up to a VGA monitor.
