Hi people.
I have an arcade that runs on MAME32. It works but i find the front end boring, and would love to have Hyperspin.
Since i know very little about how to change frontends and emulators, I found a computer tower on my local craigslist that has Hyperspin along with around 8000 emulators. I would like to purchase it, but Im not sure if I can just unplug my tower and just plug in the other tower and just fire it up. Or will I have to do some kind of set up or whatever? I would love to just plug it in and play.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hyperspin looks really cool. It perhaps has too much. I like that I'm customizing my game library the way I want it..gives my arcade a more personalized touch. I'm sure you will have to configure your own controls into it for each of the 8000 emulators...that can't be right..there aren't that many are there? I think this computer would be loaded with duplicate roms..maybe ones with (usa) (japan) in the title...i don't know how clean the game lists will be. maybe alot of roms with alternate versions. I don't even know what to do with the commodore roms...each one has different controls...what's the point of having 5000 commodore games if you don't know how to play them....at least I know Hardball! I'd be happy with just that one.

I guess that' s 8000 games not emulators. After swapping the pcs you have to install / configure your iPAC / KADE / other convertor and all controls for all emulators.
If you only need Hyperspin as frontend for MAME it isn't that hard to set up. There is a Hyperspin tutorial thread in the software forum.

If hyper spin is too overwhelming to set up yourself, just keep your existing computer with mame and use a different front end. Hyper spin is a pain in the ass. There are a few other front ends that are much easier to set up. I am currently using http://attractmode.org (http://attractmode.org). http://www.retrofe.com (http://www.retrofe.com) looks good as well.

Not sure why people keep saying that. Maybe they are trying to do some advanced customization? It literally take a minute or two to setup Hyperspin using the defaults, just point it at your emulator and roms and you are running. Sure getting all the themes, videos and wheel images can take some time, but setup is easy.

As a HS user myself, I agree with this. HS is not that difficult to setup and work with, but if you want to do major customization with it, it may get a bit more complicated to understand if one is not up to the task. The few problems I had with HS were not HS issues, but emulator or user issues. HS can be easy or hard depending on what you want to do with it.
I have tried several of the different front ends, and I personally like HS, so I would suggest setting up different ones with one or two emulators and decided which one best suits you.
