Hi guys,
OK, this is driving me nutz!!
I've got different settings for Sega Rally compared to other Model 2 games for my Logitech G27 controller. Mala is running as a shell, and its ignoring the specific game settings.
If I exit Mala, back to explorer, then settings all work perfectly.
I can't be the only Mala/G27 user?? Must be cause Mala is shelled.
any thoughts on a solution??
Cheers,
Sega Mad

I've never run Mala shelled before. Seeing the desktop for a few seconds is a small price to pay for everything just working properly.
I have a rotating monitor, auto-switching joysticks, Steam games, crazy scripts to launch oddball stuff, etc. I don't even want to think about how much of a PITA it would become.
Are you launching Logitech profiler with Mala?
Other than that, I don't have any idea what other programs or services need to be running for Logitech profiler to work.
-
Hi BadMouth
Thanks for thinking on this for me.
I don't launch the Logitech profiler at all, It's in the task bar (bottom right next to the network icon).
So, do you think I need to get mala to launch the profiler??
Or, could I do it with an AHK script?
So need this fixed
Cheers

no, what I was saying is that it should be launched at startup, along with Mala.
Google launching exe as a service.
(never done it, but been around long enough to have seen threads on the concept)

Thanks,
Looking into it.
The first app I tried, loaded the logitech profiler over the top of Mala (so uninstalled that).
Will have to try and find a manual way of doing it

Update,
No go :hissy:
I copied this script into the CMD box
sc.exe create "ServiceName" binPath= "C:\LWEMon.exe"
It said successful.
But on restart...no go.
CTRL ALT DEL showed it not running in the process, but when I exited Mala and started explorer, the profiler showed in the processes
Thoughts?
I'm beginning to think its not doable

Hey Bad Mouth,
If you dont "Shell" Mala, how do you hide the Model 2 box on start up when you launch M2 games?
-
Hey BadMouth,
So some progress today ;D
I still can't figure out the shelling issue, but what i have done is setup a separate M2 emulator for sega rally. I played with the FFB settings till I got what I wanted (if sega rally FFB setting in profiler is set too
high, the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably).
So..... happy with that, my only other issue is older games like Chase HQ and Cisco Heat which use combined pedals....is there away around this (as my profiler default settings are separate pedals). Is there a build of MAME that runs this that you know of?
Thanks for all your help to date

MAME works with the pedals set either way.
You may have to invert one or both in the analog input section of MAME's in-game menu (TAB)

Hi BadMouth,
Chase HQ and Cisco Heat don't have an option to invert,
but I worked out if I already had the gas pedal pushed down
when I went to calibrate, then settings were in the correct sense.
Same for the Brake.
Anyone got pole position working with a 270 deg wheel?

Hi BadMouth,
Chase HQ and Cisco Heat don't have an option to invert,
Are you sure? Have you seen the option in other games and know where it is?
It's in the Analog section of MAME's in-game menu (TAB) where the sensitivity for analog controls is set.
It uses the word reverse, not invert. I didn't remember that working from memory.

Pole Position will not work with any wheel that cannot spin endlessly (commonly referred to as a 360 degree wheel).
The center point of the wheel changes every time you wreck. Eventually you'll end up with the center point near the end of your wheel's travel and only able to turn in one direction.
I'm surprised nobody has hacked a fix. One might be out there in some other emulator (final burn alpha or an unnoficial mame build), but nobody has ever mentioned finding it.

Yes I'm sure,
Chase HQ and Cisco have different analog settings compared to other driving games.
As you can see from the screen shot, there is no option to reverse the gas and brake, only steering.
I'm wondering if the pedals were not analog in the original game (maybe just a micro switch)...and chase HQ was only gas pedal (KLOV.com)
Cheers

Thanks for the info on pole position, was hoping someone had done a hack...maybe one day

Chase H.Q. manual (http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-videogames/C/ChaseHQInstr.pdf) Pg 15, item 4 is a pedal microswitch.
Cisco Heat manual (http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-videogames/C/Cisco%20Heat.pdf) Pg 16 shows how to adjust the pedal/microswitch and pg 36 confirms that both pedals used microswitches.

Brilliant, that explains it then.
But.....
If I select "combined pedals" on the Logitech profiler, then the pedals map and act very much like a analog device.
Thanks for the info PL1
