Title: Last weekends StarBurstCoin auction
Post by: GodSend25 on December 15, 2003, 11:39:40 am
Who went?  I did, there was lot more machines then the previous few auctions (what do you expect for christmas).  I dident find the prices went up at all (I was expecting them to).

Anyhoots.  I managed to snag that T.M.N.T machine from the main room for 500$ (pitty about the bad display, something to replace down the road, but they are dam pricey).  I diden't stay the entire time, so does anyone have a pricelist of what everything went for?  Thanks.

Yeah there were a ton of machines this time around--same lousy auctioning practice though--"lets squeeze everyone into the little room and auction it at a conversational volume" ::)  did you happen to catch what the star wars sit down went for? i wanted to pick up a machine but I couldn't stick around as we were having people over later--next one Jan 24th!

The starwars sitdown went for $300.  The auction was especially bad in the second building until they realized that if they turn off the fans on the unit heaters then people could actually hear what was going on.

I only stayed for the first 106 games (of 143).  Once I get around to scanning the auction prices, they'll be posted somewhere (I'll post here when they are up).  If you went to the auction and want to know a specific price in the meantime, just drop me a message.

By the way, the Monster Bash pin went for $3900!!   :o ...just in case you were wondering.

Jonathan

That star trek pin had its own fan club--what did it go for do you recall?  I was looking at the monster bash--it was okay but for $3900!?! yikes.  Thats all i was really curious about--any more info and I would just be kicking myself for leaving so early. :P

the star treck pin went for $1700.  and I agree with your fan club comment.  The Gilligan's Island pin went for $1300 which I thought was a little high, but what do I know.  There were a couple of cabs that I probably should have bought, but hindsight is 20/20.  Maybe next time.

I was particular to the Hockey Redemption machine (first item in the 2nd building).  Figures that one guy with a park wanted it, so he ended up bidding it upto 400 bucks... too much in my opinion for a basement machine (awesome hockey theme, but would get boring very very quick)..

Yea, I liked it too.  I wound never have bought it, but I had a good time playing it.  While I was playing it some woman came by and looked at it started telling me what bad condition it was in and how parts would be hard to get and I think it was her husband who ended up winning it.  Also, the same woman came over while I was playing the Wacky Gator (like the Wack-a-Mole) and said the same stuff about how it was in terrible condition and how she would bid on it if it were in better condition.  Guess what?  She won that one too.

Those people annoy me.

(as a side note: I am the Wacky Gator master - I wonder how that one would work in mame??  ;D )

Speaking of the auction, is anyone planning on going to the next one who has a truck of some sort?  My father in laws big uhaul type truck is off the road till the summer, and Uhaul is not exactly what I would consider cheap (about 90$).  Im looking (provided I win an auction) transportation of Guelph Line & 401 (about 40 minutes from starburst coins) for a machine.  Let me know how much $$$ you want.

I'm hoping to go to the next one with an enclosed trailer so if anyone from michigan is interested in contributing to the cost of gas and trailer rental, let me know.

I was thinking that the next auction will be pretty bad and a big waste of time...  yea, that's it...  really bad.  You should probably all just save your money and stay home.  I'll go, but just so that I can tell you how bad it acutually was.  I'll have a bad time, buy I don't mind "taking one for the team"   ;D

mmmPeanutButter scanned and sent me the pricelist.  I wasn't able to attend the auction, so I wasn't able to get a pricelist myself.  I met PeanutButter at the November auction and he was looking around for a cabinet to convert to Mame.

Anyway,
the pricelist can be found on my website www.JBProjects.net

The October and November pricelists are there as well if you look in the articles section.

Thanks man!  Just to let you know your website keeps timing out before the initial page is drawn (both on dialup and highspeed) at about 90% of the load.  If you hit the stop button the page renders SANS the white content box.

The other links off the side menus do not even get 10% loaded before just sitting there.

Just thought you should know.  cheers.

Is anyone else having problems with my site?

Someone e-mailed me saying that they had trouble with the page loading.  It might have been Godsend that e-mailed me.  It seems to load ok for me.  Anyone else?

Damn!  I would have been all over the Street Fighter Alpha machine...    Possibly the Metal Slug or the World Heros too. :'(  No auctions in my area.

No problems with your site for me Micro571.

Anyone with a Norton Firewall/Antivirus try the site?  When I try to load the page my CPU maxes at 100% usage (from the firewall).  Disable the firewall and the page loads fine..

This happened on 2 seperate machines, one at home with Dialup and 1 at work with on a T1.
