Hey guys - it has been a while... So my son is going as Link this year for Halloween and he needed a shield so we made one! It's made out of foam core with acrylic paint. The "bolts" are little wooden discs. The shield is even curved properly although you can't really tell from the crappy cell phone pic. Entire project was less than $10 and only took about 3 hours if I add up the time spent since I basically freehanded everything. It has been ages since I did any sort of project but I thought I'd share...

I hope to start on another arcade cab soon after a long layoff - life just gets in the way (kids, new job, turning 40 (ugh), house renovation, etc.) but I think I've almost got it under control...

That is freaking awesome! There are a few Link fans in my family that would love that. Great work---especially for $10.

Be sure to post a pic of him dressed up holding the shield. Nice work!

:applaud: very cool. How about a pic of the back?
I'm a huge Link fan.

I agree, great work! Pretty sure we'd all love to see the complete costume.

Nice!

I saw Fury too, really enjoyed it.
Good movie, but definetly not a chick flick nor one suitable for the kids.

Thanks!
I don't have any pictures from the completed costume, unfortunately. He just wore a stock "elf" costume and carried the shield around. No sword - not allowed at school. There were 2 other Links at his school who were both jealous of the shield though. Maybe next year we will take it a step further although the shield is pretty much trashed already - he had some fun playing with it but since it is made out of foam core, it couldn't stand up to a 7 year old's imagination.
